Chafariz do Vinho is the Portuguese name for “fountain of wine”, a restaurant in the city centre. Located at the entrance which led to the labyrinth of canals that used to distribute the water from the main Water Reservoir until the public fountains all over Lisbon, in the 18th and 19th centuries. The name of the magnate Joe Berardo is linked with some of the best known wine cellars in the region: Bacalhôa and Loridos.

Before departing on Sunday there is time to take a small trip to the beach resort area of Sintra and the Atlantic coast. Sintra was chosen in the 16th by the royal family for its Summer residence and from then till nowadays it has kept the royal and cosmopolitan flair. The Town Palace can be found here side by side with many handcraft shops and inviting cafés.

Heading to the seaside, Guincho is the next stop for a delicious lunch. The ocean is rough in this area but most of the times twinkles in the beautiful Winter sun light.

Time for a delicious lunch at the emblematic Beer house Trindade in the centre where the national beer is a must together with the fillet steak served in the pan. The afternoon continues at Upper and Down Town discovering the typical corners and “its” bouquets. The guide-sommelier will show how the two go well together. The digestive is served at the Port Wine Institute: Tawny and LBV wines. Across the street, there is a beautiful belvedere and continuing down you reach the Chiado area and the Brasileira Café where the poet Fernando Pessoa „has permanent seat“.

Step in the Yellow tram waiting nearby to cross Baixa and get into Alfama until the Moorish Wall and then on foot to the old Castle. A sea of red tiled roofs at your feet waving until the water line of the River Tejo is not to miss! Toast to the “tasty” day with Moscatel wine, the best way to finishing this discovery of Lisbon and the beverages that go with it, just before returning to the hotel by bus.A perfect match to the day is to have dinner at the Docks of Lisbon.
