Washington Writers’ Academy
A Kalamazoo Public Elementary School in the Edison Neighborhood
Washington Writers’ Academy (WWA) is a
Kalamazoo Public Schools elementary building
on Portage Road in the Edison Neighborhood.
This has been a year like none other for all of us,
but try to imagine being an elementary teacher,
teaching and engaging a classroom full of stu-
dents virtually and all that involves. You may be
aware that KPS will not be returning to in-
classroom learning this school year which means
that “normal” is still at least months away for the school’s teachers and staff. Over the past year we have begun a con-
nection with WWA that has included your generous donations to Thanksgiving meal baskets as well as gift cards for
families in need at Christmas. During the month of March we will focus on the staff of WWA by praying for them by
name and sending a coffee shop gift card included with a hand written note of encouragement.
Volume 1, Issue 7 - March 2021
Lighthouse Community Church will KNOW GOD and SHOW GOD
by connecting people to GOD, COMMUNITY & PURPOSE.
Lighthouse is about connection.
How can you be involved in SHOWING GOD to Washington Writers’ Academy?
Pray for the school students and staff, and for Principal Lanisha Hannah-Spiller as she
leads her staff during these unprecedented days. Pray as the Spirit leads you. We don’t
know all the needs, but God does!
Reach out to the church office to receive the name of a WWA staff member to
specifically pray for AND write a note of encouragement to during the month of March.
