Lauxeta Ikastola visits BCAM

BCAM hosted 30 students of Lauxeta Ikastola and their professors in the frame of the FLL Euskadi (FIRST LEGO® League). FLL is a consolidated educational comprehensive program for the promotion of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) values among students. "Animal Allies” is the main concept of the program which this year propose to League Challenge teams, students age 9 to 16, to explore the relationship between people and animals.

The students delegation was welcomed by Lorea GOMEZ, General Manager, who also delivered a brief institutional presentation and Luis VEGA, Scientific Director of BCAM.

Aitziber IBAÑEZ GUERENABARRENA, Luca GERARDO-GIORDA and Leire CITORES MARTINEZ have delivered talks on their own respective experiences doing research on mathematics linked to animals. Students and professor had the opportunity to ask them about their respective research and take the opportunity to look into the close relation between people and allied animals, learning about how can help each other, all through the perspective of Mathematics and its applications.

BCAM acogió a 30 estudiantes de Lauxeta Ikastola y a sus profesores en el marco de la FLL Euskadi (FIRST LEGO® League). FLL es un programa consolidado de educación integral para la promoción de los valores STEAM (Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Arte y Matemáticas) entre estudiantes. Este año, "Animal Allies" es el tema central del programa que propone a los equipos “Challenge” de la Liga (compuestos por estudiantes de 9 a 16 años) explorar la relación entre las personas y los animales.

La delegación de estudiantes ha sido bien recibida por Lorea GOMEZ, Directora General, quien también ha presentado una breve presentación institucional y Luis VEGA, Director Científico de BCAM.

Aitziber IBAÑEZ GUERENABARRENA, Luca GERARDO-GIORDA y Leire CITORES MARTINEZ han ofrecido charlas sobre sus respectivas experiencias de investigación en matemáticas vinculadas a los animales. Estudiantes y profesores tuvieron la oportunidad de preguntarles sobre sus respectivas investigaciones y aprovechar la oportunidad para examinar la estrecha relación entre las personas y los animales aliados, aprendiendo cómo pueden ayudarse unos a otros, a través de la perspectiva de la Matemática y sus aplicaciones
