Bilbao, November 2, 2017 BCAM as a Severo Ochoa Excellent Center participates in 100xCiencia 2: Co-creating Value in Scientific Research ¬ Alicante, November 3 and 4, 2017 100xCiencia 2 is a meeting of the Spanish Excellent Research Centers Severo Ochoa (CSOs) and Maria de Maeztu Excellence Research Units (UMMs) with the private technology-based industry sector, and other stakeholdersr involved in knowledge and technology transfer. New concepts will be analysed and discussed to optimize the circulation of knowledge between the public and private sectors, and consequently to promote a greater and faster benefit of this knowledge to society. Representatives of BCAM as Luis VEGA, Scientific Director, Dae-Jin LEE and Aritz PÉREZ (members of Data Science Research Area) and Ainara GONZÁLEZ, Project Manager, will meet with other representatives of all the CSOs and the UMMs to share experiences and good practices, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of knowledge transfer by networking and enhance the social impact of the research work developed by the CSOs and UMMs. The Plenary Talks in 100xCiencia 2 will be given by three women of recognized international relevance in different areas of innovation and knowledge valorisation management: Lita NELSEN, Krista KERÄNEN and Nuria OLIVER. Roundtables shared by CSOs and UMMs researchers with representatives from the industry, technology transfer offices, policy and economic management are part of the Program in which Dae-Jin LEE and Aritz PÉREZ will deliver a presentation on BCAM Transfer Strategies and Innovation.

BCAM como Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa Excellent Center participa en 100xCiencia 2: Co-creating Value in Scientific Research

¬ Alicante, Noviembre 3 y 4, 2017

  100xCiencia 2 es una reunión de los centros españoles de excelencia en investigación Severo Ochoa (CSO) y las Unidades de excelencia en investigación Maria de Maeztu (UMM) con el sector industrial privado basado en la tecnología e involucrados en el conocimiento y la transferencia de la misma. Se analizarán y debatirán nuevos conceptos para optimizar la circulación del conocimiento entre los sectores público y privado y, en consecuencia, para promover un mayor y más rápido beneficio de este conocimiento para la sociedad.

Representantes de BCAM como Luis VEGA, Director Científico, Dae-Jin LEE y Aritz PÉREZ (miembros del Area de invbestigación de Data Science ) y Ainara GONZÁLEZ, Gerente de Proyectos, se reunirán con otros representantes de todas las OSC y UMM para compartir experiencias y buenas prácticas, con el objetivo de fortalecer las capacidades de transferencia de conocimiento mediante la creación de redes y mejorar el impacto social del trabajo de investigación desarrollado por las OSC y los MMNA.

Las charlas plenarias en 100xCiencia 2 serán impartidas por tres mujeres investigadoras de reconocida relevancia internacional en diferentes áreas de innovación y gestión de la valorización del conocimiento: Lita NELSEN, Krista KERÄNEN y Nuria OLIVER. Las mesas redondas compartidas por investigadores de CSO y UMM con representantes de la industria, oficinas de transferencia de tecnología, políticas y gestión económica son parte del Programa en el cual Dae-Jin LEE y Aritz PÉREZ harán una presentación sobre las estrategias de Transferencia e Innovación en BCAM.

"Co-creating Value in Scientific Research" is the theme of this meeting that is dedicated to the transfer of scientificknowledge to companies. As highlighted by Salvador Palazón, director of the Valencian Agency for Research andProspective(AVAP),"Innovationissloweddowninthelaststageoftheprocess,thetransferofknowledgefromresearchcenters.Withouttransferencethereisnoinnovationandwithoutinnovationweareendagenringthefuture".TheSecretaryof State forResearch,Developmentand Innovation,CarmenVela,highlighted that the resourcesput intoentitiessuchastheSeveroOchoaandMaríadeMaeztucentersofexcellence,"morethananspendingareaninvestment",and expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the extraordinarywork that these cutting-edge research centers aredoing."Whatweuseinresearchisverywellinvestedandyouaredoinganexcellentjobwiththelimitedresourcesthatareputatyourdisposal.Youare1%oftheresearchersoftheworld,butyousupport3.2%oftheworldscienceandyourpublicationsrepresent5%oftheinternationalscientificcommunity",saidCarmenVela.TheSecretaryofStateforresearchnotedthatthetransferofknowledgebetweenscienceandbusinessshouldbeacircularconcept. ForCarmenVela,researchandinnovationhavetogohandinhand."Withthisideawehavetriedtobreakdownbarriers.Wemusttrytoapproximatethesetwosectors,scienceandbusiness.WemustbreakbarriersofthoughtthatstillthinkthatcompanieshavetobeoutsideoftheUniversity",shesaid."Asresourcesarelimited,grantsnowonlygototheacademicworld,andtherearenoresourcesforcompanies,intheprivatesphere.ButIwouldliketobreakthis,becausetheresearchshouldbefundedregardlessofwhereitisdone,publicorprivatecenters.Carmen Vela pointed out that in countries like Korea "more than 80% of the dedication to research comes from thebusinesssector.Andthemostadvancedcountriesscience isover70%dedicatedtotheprivatesector.
