Worship Preparation During Lent One way to prepare your heart and mind for worship is to spend a little time in prayer and reflection. The prelude music that happens before the announcements is the perfect time for that to occur. Try answering some questions related to our Lenten theme - Take Up the Cross - to help guide your thoughts. • Sometimes following Jesus means making a

sacrifice of some sort. What do you need to give up/take on in your life in order to Take Up Your Cross and follow Jesus more fully?

• Jesus said, “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.” (Matthew16:25-26) What are the ways that you may need to lose your life for Jesus?

You may also use this prayer: Dear Jesus, Open my eyes that I might see you today in worship. Open my ears that I might hear what it is that you are calling me to do this day. Open my heart so that it may be able to care for and encourage others in need. Amen.

Radio Broadcast Ending For almost 60 years, WNPV has been a critical part of the Lansdale Community, broadcasting local news and information to its residents. For almost 40 of those 60 years, Trinity's worship services have been broadcast every Sunday. It is with great sadness that we pass along the news that WNPV, for financial reasons, will be shutting down at the end of April. While utilized by many Trinity and community members, the closing will perhaps touch our homebound, who rely on a weekly connection with their faith community, the most. While we don't have an immediate solution, we will be forming a task force to investigate new possibilities for maintaining a worship connection with our homebound members. Please contact Andrea Baxter, [email protected], with questions, concerns, or if you would like to be a part of the team to investigate new possibilities.

Spread the Gospel, Not the Germs Help us spread the Gospel and stop the spread of germs at church. Greeters will welcome everyone with a smile and a wave rather than a handshake. During worship at the time of sharing the peace, we encourage you to use sign language, elbow bumps, or just a verbal “peace be with you” without physical contact. Rather than passing offering plates (and potentially germs!), we’re inviting the congregation to bring their offering forward. Help us make health and safety a priority.

Be a part of the 40 Days of Giving! Use the calendar for daily reflections or stop in at a Learning Connections class to learn more. Use trinitylansdale.com/Lent2020 as a resource for each upcoming Sunday’s Lenten Study Session.

Please Donate by using either an ELCA World Hunger Appeal envelope from your packet or a blue envelope in the pew marked “Hunger Appeal.” Please help us toward Trinity’s goal of $5000 for Lent!

March 15Read today’s Gospel, John 4:5-42.

March 16 “Our Lenten journey continues, in repentance for the sin of gender injustice and in hope forthe just world God is creating in our midst.” Learn more in this week’s study, “Justice for All.”

March 17“The program has given a sense of joy, and fulfillment that I can give hope to the hopeless girls who are being oppressed.” What story of a woman leader in the Bible inspires you?

March 18Worldwide, girls are far less likely than boys to be enrolled in school. A gift of $40 to ELCA World Hunger can help a family with schoolfees and uniforms. When you educate a girl, you help open a world of opportunity for her future.

March 19God of living water, protect from pollution or misuse all rivers, lakes, oceans and streams. Bless the work of those who dig wells and those who advocate for access to clean water, that all people and animals have enough to drink. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

March 20“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphanand the widow, and who loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing” (Deuteronomy 10:17-18).

March 21“Lord, you give justice in all oppression, maintain the right, set prisoners free. You feed the hungry in your compassion; healing and life flow from your tree. Happy are all who hope in God, whose grace is rich and deep and broad!” ELW 877, “Praise the Almighty!”

News from Your Congregational Council: At the February 27, 2020 Council Governance Meeting the following people were elected as officers of the Congregation:

President - Cindy Weiss

Vice President - Gary Hatton

Secretary - Sandy Cottrell

Dave Crosson is the appointed Treasurer. Please wish them congratulations when you see them and keep all members of Council in your prayers.

Safety During the Flu SeasonGerms spread at work and school. Unless already weakened by other health conditions, flu is a short time condition. If you and/or other family members have symptoms, maybe it’s time to stay home until symptoms diminish. Also, flu may make you weak and dizzy, if you feel it coming on, slow down, don’t drive or climb on ladders, keep an eye on family members who are ill. Help them avoid falls.

The Safety Team is trying to keep you healthy this flu season. Look for the next article.
