STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT The Apostle Paul wrote, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). This verse does not have to be taken literally to mean that we must smile when we give. However, it does say that we are to give our gifts from hearts filled with joy and gratitude for all the blessings from God. Gifts from the heart are given joyfully rather than as an obligation.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE SHOEBOX PROJECT Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian Red Cross Organization headed by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. It is a year round effort, giving aid to victims of disaster around the world. They assist in building churches in places where evangelism is often discouraged, such as North Korea. When natural disasters like forest fires, earthquakes, and hurricanes affect our country, Samaritan’s Purse is there offering aid to those affected. So although we may think that they are only about collecting and distributing Christmas shoeboxes, they are working year around to aid the hurting and bring the message of God’s love around the world. Look for the table of materials for this year’s Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project in late September or early October. If you have any questions about this project, please call Sharon Gehrke at 248.620.2011 or Dot Wilson at 248.236.2028.

God’s Children” at St. John, Rochester. For more information on this project visit www.stjohnrochester.org/Church/Serve/AtChurch/CareGiving/GiftsforAllGodsChildren.
