    We would also like to congratulate and thank the foreman, Jonathan Cote and the assistant-foreman, Kyle McGregor for a job well-done! Every year, Rexforet selects one employee from each community and one for the province to receive a scholarship of Excellence. This is given to an employee is especially distinguished by the quality of his/her work and great motivation to the brush cutting training program.

    The recipient of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg award of Excellence is Devin Whiteduck. Mr. Whiteduck received $100.00 and a commemorative jersey. The recipient of the provincial award of Excellence is Mr. Blake Chabot. Mr. Chabot received $1000.00 and a commemorative jersey. Mr. Chabot has shown that he posses the qualities necessary to perform his job in an exemplary fashion through his consistency and effort he applies to his work. This is the first time a Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg community member has received the provincial award. Congratulations!

  • ALGONQUIN GRASSROOTS/IDLE NO MORE

    Here are some upcoming events that are being planned and the volunteers that we have for each so far. If anyone would like to help out in these events please let me know and I will add your name to the event and inform the leads. This list is as follows:

    1. Assert and Exercise Hunting and Fishing Rights (Date to be determined)

    2. Canoe Journey to Ottawa (Working title: Paddling for Our Waters - Paddling from Wakefield into Ottawa on National Aboriginal Day Friday June 21st.)

    Paddling our traditional waters for the protection of Our Waters - Our Life Lines. This one day event will ensure that both Youth and Seniors alike can be involved. It will bring people together for the LOVE of our waters. Upcoming meeting to be planned in Kitigan Zibi and Ottawa for this project.
