Welcome to KAW 2019
On behalf of the Kinsale Arts Weekend 2019 team, we are delighted to present a varied, broad-ranging and accessible programme for you to enjoy. We are now in the third year of Kinsale Arts Week/End in its revived form. When we started out in 2017, we had the good fortune to have a strong brand on which to build, thanks to the hard work of those who came before us.
Kinsale Arts Weekend is run by a voluntary committee, made up of arts enthusiasts from all walks of life. Our aim is to provide an inclusive, exciting and diverse range of artistic events including theatre, music, visual art, crafts, dance, literature, film, comedy and children’s events.
Our vision for the arts weekend is that it continues to grow and evolve, contributing to a significant economic, social and cultural footprint in Kinsale, bringing an open and inclusive artistic experience to all. The programme has something for everyone. Keep the weekend free and go to as many events as possible!
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Kinsale Arts Weekend (KAW for short!).

Pina Bausch MasterclassModern dance would not exist without Pina Bausch. She
redefined the language and character of dance and has deeply
influenced successive generations with her theatricality and
revolutionary use of movement.
For 11 years Jutta Geike danced the lead in Pina’s sublime
‘Kontakthof’. In this unique Masterclass, Jutta will work with
a group of young dancers to recreate a short piece from
Kontakthof, and in the process she will illuminate the essence of
Pina Bausch’s ground-breaking and mesmerizing ‘dance-theatre’.
