Fellow Brothers in Islam…

Let’s refresh our mind about the concept of

Taqwa.

Taqwa is not only spiritual but it also covers all

aspects of life; politic, economic, social and

others.

Islam emphasizes on Taqwa since Taqwa

Relationship between Taqwa and five daily prayers in

Surah Al-Ankabut: 45

ة� ال� ة� إن� الص� ال� أ�قم الص� ل�ي�ك� من� ال�كت�اب و� ي� إ ا أ�وح ات�ل� م�

اء ح�ش� ت�ن�ه�ى ع�ن ال�ف�

ن�ع�ون� ا ت�ص� الل�ه� ي�ع�ل�م� م� �ك�ب�ر� و� ل�ذك�ر� الل�ه أ نك�ر و� ال�م� و�

29:45 CONVEY [unto others] whatever of this divine writ has

been revealed unto thee, and be constant in prayer: for,

behold, prayer restrains [man] from loathsome deeds and

from all that runs counter to reason; and remembrance of

God is indeed the greatest [good]. And God knows all that you

do.


Referring to the previous verse, prayer give a

major impact in human life. It is also related to

the concept of Taqwa.

Prayer with the sense of Taqwa will prevent us

from committing sins or other offences.

Taqwa grants stability and the continuation of

Ibadah and Akhlak.


Relationship between Taqwa and fasting (Sawm) in Surah Al-Baqarah: 183

ا ك�تب� ي� ي�ام� ك�م� ن�وا� ك�تب� ع�ل�ي�ك�م� الص2 ا ال�ذين� آم� �ي4ه� ا أ

ب�لك�م� ع�ل�ى ال�ذين� من ق�

ون� ل�ع�ل�ك�م� ت�ت�ق�

2:183 O YOU who have attained to faith! Fasting is ordained for you as it was ordained for those before you, so that you might remain conscious of God.

In this verse, Allah emphasizes the ultimate purpose of fasting(Sawm) is to achieve Taqwa.PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA


Taqwa reflects one’s character either in

performing Ibadah or Akhlak.

Taqwa is regarded as a spiritual aspect in

human life. This aspect can bring either

happiness or misery in one’s life.

Islam stresses the important of spiritual

aspect which is Taqwa.


Taqwa can be interpreted to have several

meanings; God-fearing, God-conscious, sense

of responsibility and self-restrain.

In this contexts, Taqwa can be best described

as self-restrain because it displays one’s fear of

Allah, one’s remembrance of Allah and one’s

responsibility in this world.


Significant of Taqwa in Al-Quran. 1. Taqwa brings honor based on Surah Al-Hujurat:13

Cيرب اك�م� إن� الل�ه� ع�ليمC خ� �ت�ق� ند� الل�ه أ ع

(49:13) O men! Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware. PUSAT ISLAM UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA


2. Taqwa deals with provision in this world

ون ي�ا ات�ق� و�ى و� اد الت�ق� ي�ر� الز� إن� خ� و�د�وا� ف� ت�ز� ه� اللQه� و� ي�ع�ل�م�

و�لي األ�ل�ب�اب أ�

2:197 The pilgrimage shall take place in the months appointed for it. And whoever undertakes the pilgrimage in those [months] shall, while on pilgrimage, abstain from lewd speech, from all wicked conduct, and from quarrelling; and whatever good you may do, God is aware of it. And make provision for yourselves - but, verily, the best of all provisions is God-consciousness: remain, then, conscious of Me, O you who are endowed with insight!

2:189 THEY WILL ASK thee about the new moons. Say: "They indicate the periods for [various doings of] mankind, including the pilgrimage. However, piety does not consist in your entering houses from the rear, [as it were,] but truly pious is he who is conscious of God.
