Summer is here! Our summer is off to a great start. Last weekend, I got to spend a couple of days with my
dad, my brothers, and my son fishing in Port Aransas. It was such a blessing to spend quality time with the
most important men in my life away from all the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. I then joined Cristina and
the girls in San Antonio for a cousin’s wedding. We got to spend time with our extended family, many of
whom we had not seen in years. This last week, my family and I began our summer in earnest as we spent a
couple of days at Inks Lake. With Connor’s surgery on the horizon, we are trying to cram our summer into
the next three weeks. It has been a great start…
While I was away the last two Sundays, several things came to light. First, I am specifically blessed to have min-
istry partners like Pastor Tim. It means the world to know that you are in capable hands while I am gone.
Second, we attended two different churches while we were away. Both were quite a bit larger than Fellowship
yet still felt very comfortable. We were greeted warmly by many people and could easily see why people were
attracted to those churches. However, the church last weekend left me feeling a little uneasy. While we were
greeted and welcomed, no one actually spoke to us. I could tell they were trying to figure out if we were visi-
tors or people who had attended for a while they just didn’t recognize or remember. At Fellowship, I believe
we have all encountered such situations.
I want us to start doing something at Fellowship – never take for granted someone knows who you are. Also,
do not be embarrassed if you know the face and can’t place the name – tell them, ―I am so sorry – tell me your
name again, please!‖ I am flattered when someone has enough interest in me to admit they don’t remember
my name but have the courage and desire enough to ask. Let’s do the same.
I see it this way – they say you have to say and hear someone’s name three times and know something special
about them to actually commit their name and face to memory. Every Sunday when you greet someone – even
if you have known them forever – ask about them and seek out something special to remember about them.
When you see them next week, seek them out and repeat back to them what you remember about them.
You never know – it might be they are first time visitors and you are the first one to introduce yourself. This is
how we grow larger and smaller at the same time!
The 4th of July is just around the corner, and it is on a Sunday. Typically, holiday Sundays are low attendance
days. I want you to make plans to be at Fellowship on the 4th of July. We are going to look at the ―Separation
of Church and State‖. You will be surprised at the truth behind this concept.
This weekend we start a new sermon series called ―Church Words‖. We have a different vocabulary at church
that does not get used anywhere else (although it should). We are going to take a church-specific word each
week and see how it is used in the Bible and how to apply it to our daily lives. The first church word we are
going to look at is the biggest one – God. Read Psalm 139, and come prepared to hear God’s word!
Pressing on,
Pastor Michael

Wow...sure enjoyed the rain...clears the air.
We sure hope you are enjoying our Sunday morning worship. We have
some fine musicians and singers who put a lot of hours of practice into
our services.
Remember, we would be happy to audition you if you’d like to dust off
your instruments or voices and join us. It’s a lot of fun to praise our
Heavenly Father through music and song.
Hope you are able to take time away to renew your spirit in Him.
Praising Him through music!
