I am looking forward to the new developments transpiring through KABDA. The feedback I am getting from entrepreneurs I am transforming into action. First item is to offer step by step support in business plan development. In order to access loans and business grants a business plan is priority. It can also be used as a guideline for the business operator. KABDA will also offer accounting courses to existing and new business operators who feel it is a priority for their business. If this is not an option KABDA will work with the operator to provide accounting consulting services. Business seminars in operations skills and business planning will continue throughout our service areas. Internal Posting - DO you have the desire to see people succeed in business? Then you may want to pursue a position as a Business Development Officer mentoree with KABDA. KABDA is seeking an individual willing to grow, achieve and receive instruction on business consulting throughout the Kootenay Region. If this sounds like something you are interested in, please make yourself known to Janice. Business Opportunity: Contact Janice for more information on a Business Opportunity that will enhance local artists’ business sales and exposure. HEALTH NEWS

I would like to say hello to everyone in the community and briefly introduce myself to

those whom I have not yet met. My name is Alicia Bolduc and I am the Home Care Nurse at

the Yellow House. I was born and raised in north/central Saskatchewan but have lived in

Creston for 7 years. Previously I was a nurse at Swan Valley Lodge. I am privileged to be

working with your community and looked forward to meeting everyone!

So far we’ve had very hot/dry weather! Remember to wear a hat and apply sunscreen

with the highest SPF. To reduce your risk of skin cancer it’s recommend to avoid sun

exposure during the hours of 10am thru 4pm. And always drink plenty of water! Try to

avoid sugary drinks as these actually dehydrate the body!

NUTRITION KITCHEN- will be cancelled for the summer months and will start up

again September 18. We have had low number recently but encourage all to come and

take advantage of this valuable service! If you wish to speak with Catherine or Shenoa

please call the Yellow House to book an appointment.

LISA’S MOBILE FOOT CARE- scheduled to next be in community August 6. Priority

appointments are given to diabetics, elderly and those with arthritis. Call Yellow House to

book appointment.

NURSE PRACTITIONER-Laura Koop has changed her days to Monday due to staffing

changes. Call 250-420-2700 to book appointments.

DR GRAHN - we are happy to announce he is back in community every other Monday

typically around 2pm. Call Alicia at Yellow house to book an appointment.

Have a great summer!!

Alicia Bolduc LPN

It’s that time of year for lawns to be cut and yards to be cleaned up around the house. If you do not have a lawnmower there are many individuals on the reserve that would be happy to cut your grass for a fee. Please call housing if you are having difficulty finding someone and I would be happy to pass on a few names. This is your responsibility as a tenant so please pay the person first before they cut your lawn. It’s going to be an extremely hot and super dry summer as you are well aware. Please test your fire alarms, make sure all out door taps are working, have a hose close at hand, and make sure no firewood is stacked up against the house. I will be having your fire extinguishers tested in the next few weeks. If you see a fire, please call 911!!! I’m just collecting up the last few radon pucks that need to be tested. Once I receive all of the results, and Mark Turner from first Nation Health Authority reviews them, I will send out a letter to let you know what the results were in your home. If I did not test your home, that means either you were not home when we were distributing them, or past radon tests showed your home was in a safe range. Please let me know if you were missed, and have any concerns on your home. We are still accepting applications for the Housing Committee. Please email me at [email protected] or call me if this is something you would be interested in being part of. Starting September 1, 2015 minimum amount of rent charged will be $250.00 per house. Maximum Rents will still be calculated by using your income statements and completing the Income declaration for a fair market rent. Have a great summer; please be cautious and careful with all this heat! Any questions or concerns about any housing issue please call me, or drop in at the LKB Administration Building. My hours are Mon-Thursday 9-4pm. Debbie Edge-Partington Housing Coordinator 250-428-4428
