Even if you don’t sew there are many ways you can
help with this activity:
1) cut 6” elastic
2) cut 38” bias tape
3) cut arm holes
4) sort finished dresses
5) put bias tape with a matching pillow case.
Delores Payne’s son-in-law and granddaughter will
be at the Pinterest Night. They have been on
mission trips to Haiti and will be sharing their
experiences.
We would like everyone to bring an appetizer. If
you have found an appetizer on Pinterest that you
really like, bring it to share!

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD …
This past week I taught out of 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 onPaul’s encouragement to “Take captive every thought andmake them obedient unto Christ.” That passage alsochallenged each of us to become “spiritual thinkers” and sowe are making an effort to not to worry, to be critical or tobe worldly. I hope this past week we were peaceful, positive and eternally minded instead. Let that be our
prayer daily as we seek to draw closer to Christ as Hisdisciple.
Let me give a brief “shout out” to all those who commi ttedto praying daily for the “unreached of the world.” Please befaithful in your effort to expedite the Lord’s return as wepray for new messengers to rise up and get the Gospel tothose who need Jesus.
If you would like to assist in this summer’s annual churchpicnic on August 3rd, then please see the bulletin board inthe coat room to find out what kind of help is needed. Oryou can speak to Kathryn Albertson directly.
I want to share a few excerpts from the Outlooknewspaper devotional page. It reads: “In the early 1990’s,German researchers studied the effects of aircraft noiseexposure on children. They tested a cross-section ofchildren living in the flight path of an old airport, as well aschildren living in the flight path of a new airport. Here iswhat they discovered. The children in the area of the oldairport scored lower in reading comprehension and in long-term memory skills. For the children living in the new
airport flight path, they also exhibited decreases in readingcomprehension and long-term memory; Different children, but same results. Here’s the kicker! The researchers re-tested the first group of children after the original airporthad been closed, and they were absent from the airportnoise. They found the children tested better in readingcomprehension and memory skills.”
So what’s the point? Why am I sharing this study? Toillustrate that noise affects our ability to processinformation. What noise has been distracting you lately? Isit screaming children, a busy interstate, a leaky faucet, abig screen television, an iPod playing your favorite songs, etc…. Some noise is unavoidable, but we can control manynoises.
God encourages us to “Be still, and know that I am God.”God still speaks in a “still, small voice.” Are youencountering Him by listening closely? As much as noisecan have a negative impact, dwelling in God’s presence-being still before Him-has amazing restorative properties.Listen! Listen! Listen for His voice.
