Weather Emergency ProceduresIn light of recent severe weather events, such as the floods in Southern Alberta, we at the St. Albert Farmers Market would

like to outline the following plan should severe weather happen to occur during our farmers market this season.

GENERAL NOTESOrganizers will check on weather conditions updated by Environment Canada periodically throughout the day. Should any

safety issues arise, we ask that both vendors and the public follow the emergency actions provided below to ensure the safetyof everyone participating in the St. Albert Farmers Market.

It is imperative that you monitor updates provided by Environment Canada and/or listen to emergency alerts broadcast on ra-dio stations should you suspect inclement weather. We will also try to update our Facebook and Twitter accounts periodi-cally. The following actions must be taken should a weather WATCH (weather conditions favourable for a storm or severe

weather) or WARNING (urgent message that severe weather is either occurring or will occur) be issued.

Please Note: The St. Albert Farmers Market muster point (gathering area in case of emergency) is the Arden Theatre or Council Chambers (2nd Floor) of St. Albert Place.

WEATHER WATCH Should a weather watch be issued by Environment Canada, the staff at the St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce booth

(Stall 89C) will do our utmost diligence in visiting each vendor booth and informing vendors of the concern. However, thisdoes not mean you can drive your vehicle into the market. Weather Watches are a common occurrence and we must ensurethe safety of the public. If you wish to leave for safety reasons, you are free to do so but only if it does not infringe upon the

safety of others in the market. You are free to continue operating in the market and we will update you on changing weather conditions as soon as possible.

WEATHER WARNING 1. Should a Weather Watch be upgraded to a Weather Warning by Environment Canada, the staff at the St. Albert & Dis-

trict Chamber of Commerce booth (Stall 89C) will sound a horn 3 times to alert both vendors and the public of theimminent inclement weather. Please do not ignore this warning. Evacuate immediately. If it is safe to do so beforeevacuating, please turn off any running generators or electronic equipment and collapse your tent onto your product. Also, assist others with the tear down of their stalls.

    2. Inform others of the weather warning and evacuate all spectators from the market to our muster points (St. AlbertPlace) or to the safety of a nearby building. Move to a secure area within your designated building, keep away fromwindows, and move to areas where the buildings structural supports are strongest.

    3. Remain at your muster point and listen to any directions/updates given by the St. Albert & District Chamber of Com-merce staff including Debbie Grant, Farmers Market Manager, or James Lo, Farmers Market Assistant. Should youhappen to be outside of the muster points and not in contact with the Farmers Market staff, please monitor updates

provided by Environment Canada as well as our Facebook (/StAlbertFamersMarket) and Twitter(@StAlbertMarket) accounts and only exit once you are advised it is safe to do so.

    4. Once the St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce staff have been advised that the Weather Warning has ended, ahorn will sound once to alert both vendors and the public that it is once again safe to enter the market. Please continuewith the tear down of the remainder of your stall and exit the St. Albert Farmers Market. Please be cautious of othersaround you as a large number of people may be exiting the market at the same time.

If you hear of any imminent inclement weather, please advise us at our St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce booth(Stall 89C). Please note, the St. Albert & District Chamber of Commerce is not liable for any damage or stolen property thatmay occur during such weather emergency procedures. Vendor insurance is highly recommended for these types of events.

Shopping for the public begins only at 10:00AMwhen the horn signals the open of the market. Please do not sell anything to the generalpublic before this time.

From 9:30-10:00AM vendors can do their shopping, though they must be wearing their purple vendorsbutton in order to make a purchase during thistime. Please do not sell anything to customers notwearing a vendor button prior to 10:00AM.

For any new vendors, or those that arent aware, there are some stalls that do not have parking.

We recommend that you park in the lot behind theHemingway Centre (formerly old RCMP Station), north-west of the market or in the St. Albert Curling ClubParking Lot. There are a large number of stalls re-served just for us.

If you have parking with your booth, please do notforget to bring lattice or a similar material to placeunder your tires. This helps protect the beautiful St. Al-bert grass, and it saves us all money as the City of St.Albert must be reimbursed for any damages.

    T h e r e i s N O V E N D O R P A R K I N G allowed in the big city parking lot.T h i s a r e a i s r e s e r v e d f o r s h o p p e r sand will be monitored closely.

Vendors washrooms are located in City Hall. Also, 2port-a- pottys are located near the entrance of St.

Anne Street and Perron Street . Washrooms locatedwithin businesses in the Perron District are for cus-tomer use only.

Also, please remember to remove any garbagefrom your stall and take it home with you. The gar-bage bins placed in the market are for customer use only.

Vendors are not permitted to drive into or exit themarket until 3:15 pm after the 2nd horn is sounded.

    STALL NUMBERS

STALL LAYOUTA minor but important detail is to ensure that booths areflush with the curb. This guarantees that you take advan-

tage of the MAXIMUM 10-foot distance from the curb. Please note, that everything must be inside your tent at alltimes. For example, no signs can be outside of your tent.

Many of the vendors who have been here in previous yearsmay remember that the weather is unpredictable. We aresubject to not only rain, but also wind. We have learnedthat in extreme winds, tents can turn into kites!

Please bring some sort of weight to hold your tent down inthe event of extreme winds.

If winds do become severe enough that you feel safety is a

concern, please put as much of your product in bins aspossible, keeping just what is needed to continue selling onthe tables. Dropping your tent may be the best option.
