DAY 1The English Language Camp starts on 23rd of April 2012. The opening ceremony was fun with our lecturers. The first activity was a tribute to William Shakespeare. It was William Shakespeares birthday on our first day of camp. We were asked to perform on William Shakespeares work about drama and poems. My class did the story on Romeo and Juliet. It was an amazing drama and my class did a good job. Before that activity, we did aerobics. This is the first time I am doing aerobics. It was fun and interesting to do. It was a very good exercise too.Day 2The second day started with Tai Chi. I was late for the Tai Chi and I admit that I should be punctual. The activity for today is teambuilding. The first activity was Blind Walk, a very good activity as I am the leader; I had to give clear instructions. This activity improved my speaking skills. As a leader, my instructions were not clear enough at some stations because my followers almost fell down. I learnt that our instructions need to be clear and short for the followers to listen and follow. Apart from that, I need to keep track on the number of stations. I understand that the obstacles undergone are life obstacles where we are teachers to mould students who are blind. We are determining their future to be bright or dark.The next activity was Building the Tallest Structure. We need to build the tallest structure which could stand on its own using straws. We need to do it within 15 minutes and with only the provided materials. We also had three handicaps in our group where one of them was blind, handicapped and dumb. They worked together as a team and contributed in building the structure. Here I learnt group work is very important and the members were also caring in helping the handicap in the group.The last activity is The Friendship Link. It was an interesting activity as we shared our feelings with our friends. I got an opportunity to appreciate my friends for their good deed and encouragement. My friends also told me about my strengths and caring attitude towards them. We cooperated as a team with other groups to form a bigger friendship link. The friendship bond symbolizes our life as when we are too close, it hurts. Apart from that, we need to have some privacy in friendship to feel comfortable. Day 3It is school visiting time. On 25/4/2012 we went for a school visit to conduct activities with the school students. Generally I felt it was a good time to interact with students. It is a good exposure of the trainee teachers with Year 4 students. I felt very tired to wake up early in the morning to go to the school since it is quite far. After reaching the school, I felt very excited looking at the students.I would like to point out, some of my weakness in order to overcome it. Firstly, I was in lack of preparation for extra activities. When I first reached the school, I have realized that I loved children. I found out that I had the passion in teaching. I felt this during the students came to my station and I explained to them about the rules of the game. The children understood the game very fast and they started to draw the pictures according to the descriptions given.Nowadays, students are very fast ahead of time and technology. They are very keen in learning and doing something new. I was very satisfied when I thought them a farewell song and they all could sing it well with actions. They could learn it very fast as soon as I taught them. It was indeed a fun and interesting way to make the students speak in English through the games and singing of songs. In conclusion, I would like to teach in this interactive way in future when I become a teacher one day. Day 4As usual we started our day with Tai Chi. The next activity was Choral Speaking. My group became the champion for this competition. The name of my group is Aconcagua. We prepared the script according to the theme of the entire camp which was Take Charge Through English. I really enjoyed this choral speaking. This is my first time doing choral speaking. It was a fun going activity yet we prepared hard for it. Our conductor was Miss Syafiqah Zahidah. She conducted the program very well. I was really happy when my group became the champion for this activity. During our presentation, everyone were amazed and the really concentradted to our choral speaking. Next I Mime You Speak is another funny and comedy activity. Many of us did funny miming to make the participants understand. We were given a sequence of pictures to mime. It was a little boring towards the end of the activity where everyone was tired. This activity has two parts where in the second part we have to narrate story based on the miming. The groups came up with different ideas and stories. It was interesting to listen to many different kinds of funny stories narrated. The last activity for the day is Cheerleading. We all had a great time doing Cheerleading. It was interesting and exciting dancing for cheerleading. It was as if we all gained energy and power to dance. At this part I realized that I had a passion in dancing too. That was really amazing.Day 5We are on the last day of the entire camp. I am feeling a little sad because I have been enjoying the camp to the maximum. It is a very good camp which could build up the character of a teacher. Our last activity was Talent Time. In this activity most of the group performed different types of talents. I was totally amazed with the Kilimanjaro group where they combined Dancing, Karate, and many more as a shooting with David Blaines magic show. It was indeed a different idea on talent. My group performed about how to sing nursery rhymes in a new way. We sang nursery rhymes in Dikir Barat style. That sounds nice right.After that we had our closing ceremony. Then we had our plenary session with the lecturers. Everyone shared their point of view about the camp. They explained that they have learned a lot on being a good teacher in the future. I learned a vast of qualities that a teacher should instill in herself in order to produce a good student.
