Joe Sesack Jr’s
1964 Thunderbird
I traded my Crown Victoria to Lenny Cocco of the famous singing group Lenny Cocco and
The Chimes for my 1964 Thunderbird. Note the album cover with the picture of him and my
car. I got the car in August of 2009. It has 46,000 original miles, with a 390 under the hood.So
far all I’ve done is add a 6 CD changer, speakers, and an engine dress up kit. It’s a work in
progress.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL
&
TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT
I THINK I SAID THAT LAST YEAR
With the Holidays approaching I want to wish everyone a joy-
ous Holiday Season. May all your wishes for happiness, health,
and more toys come true. Ok back to business
Holiday Party @ Nocellos Ristorante in
Northport/Saturday Night January 9, 2010: Since we all had
such a great time last year, we decided to back for another try.
Four piece band on site, and that means dancing in the aisles. The
cost will remain at $35.00 per person, and the club will pick up
the tax and tip. There will be a cash bar, and you will have a
choice of six entrees. Coffee, soda and desert are included. We are
trying to come up with some sort a give away for the night, and
are open for suggestions.
O What a Night/Tuesday October 20
th
@ Bertucci’s: With
the anticipation of Bill Carberry owner of Cap a Radiator being
our guest speaker the place was packed. I mean packed, almost
Standing Room Only. Bill did his usual questions and answer
show, Charlie Steuer won the 50/50, and I went home with a
smile.
2010 Club Calendar: We have updated our club calendar for
2010 in this issue. Keep in mind that these dates and locations are
not cast in stone, except for our show on July 18
th
. I would be
open for suggestions for any of the outdoor meetings. Change is
good.
Club Badges: Only six left now. Once they are gone, they are
gone. If you would like to have one the cost is $40.00, and for
$5.00 more and I will ship it to you.
Dues are Due in December: You will be getting our annual
dues letter shortly from Mr. Fleming. Please fill out the data sheet,
vote, and return everything with your check for $29.00 to Art. A
self-addressed envelope will be enclosed.
New Member: Welcome aboard Bob Reichardt and his ‘62
Bird. Bob is from Kings Park, and I met him at one of cruise
nights in KP.

Collectible Clunkers: One man’s junk is another man’s treasure,
and the Cash for Clunkers initiative – so successful that it had to
be stopped early (twice) – has proven in spades.
Let’s wade through the exotic foreign claptrap like that Bentley

President’s Message
Volante: Some of the 700,000 cars given up were machines with,
at the very least, collector value-whether in pieces or as a whole.
A total of 1,611 Mustangs were turned it-all post ’84 models,
meaning there are a lot fewer Foxes and SN95s out there. (We’ve
heard tell of SVT Cobras among them. One of those Mustangs
was a ’08.
More than 3,000 Thunderbirds had their wings clipped,
including an ’05 two-seater; we shudder to think how many were
Turbo Coupes and Super Coupes, and the treasure trove of parts
available within each. A pair of Roush-prepped Stage 3 F-150s
and a pair of Foose-prepped F-150s also went away, which
seems a little surprising unless Jack and Chip were just doing
some spring-cleaning. And even 107 Ford Taurus SHOs are no
longer with us.
As for the General...brace yourself: 131 Corvettes from ’84
to ’95, including 34 convertibles, have met their fate (will some-
one record their VINs for posterity at the museum in Bowling
Green?); more than 1,000 Camaros from ’84 to 2000 are no
longer with us.
Elsewhere in the GM lineup, there was Buick GNX, a 20
th
Anniversary Trans Am, and 61 Fieros (including the rare and
desirable ’88 models) sent to the scrapper. Our hope is that these
were all sub-parts-car material, with dented panels and mice
chewing on the wiring. Even then, many of these machines
deserved better.
A Thank You From Northport VA: A thank you note was
sent from the Northport VA, thanking us for our participation
and support for this years Harvest Festival. We as a club have
been there from day one.
A Time to reflect: With the year coming to a close its time
for me to reflect on 2009. We will close this year at almost (80)
members in the bank. Our fourth show at Syosset Ford was a
huge success, thanks to the efforts of our show committee, which
consists of members from both clubs. On the down side, Mother
Nature rained on us more often then the norm, which put a crimp
in the armor with our outdoor meetings.
Moving to Nocellos for our Holiday Party was a good call.
We finally received our club badges that look great, and we are
almost sold out. When the dust clears the club will net about
$500.00, and it was worth the wait. My career on the radio with
the Motor Mouth guys took another step in my on the air career.
Big Bird went to Lockport for the 2009 ITC convention accom-
panied by Mr. Fleming and Rosina. And because Premium gas
was close to $3.50 a gallon I put some money back in the econ-
omy. We again attended the North Jersey Show in June, which
has been a regular event with this club for a number of years.
A sad note is that Rudy may step down in 2010 because of
other commitments, and I will miss him. He is a very intricate
part of this club, and it will be very difficult to replace him. I
think this is my one-hundredth year as President, and time fly’s
when you’re the headcheese. In order for my adrenalin to keep
flowing you people need to step up to the plate and become more
pro active in your club. Yes this is your club, and I will not be
President forever. Enjoy the Holidays and The New Year.
Peace

WARRANTEES AND SERVICE
Read the fine print
By Rudolf Bauer
Over the years we’ve seen new car warrantees that ranged from as little as 30 days or 3,000 miles to five years or 36,000 or some
other combination of miles and years. We have heard of terms such as “drive train” warrantee, “rust through warrantee” and
“bumper to bumper” warrantee. One of my friends had an inexpensive foreign car that required a new starter while the car had
one of those 100,000 mile warrantees. Guess what, not covered under the warrantee as it is not part of the “drive train”. Another
friend required two expensive repairs involving the fuel filter in the gas tank. Again, not covered under the warrantee.
Now let’s discuss the “bumper-to-bumper” warrantees. The president of the LITC has a very low mileage (11,000) Mustang. The
leather driver’s seat wore out. His dealership, Syosset Ford, is replacing the seatback without charge. My experience was differ-
ent on my 2008 Mercury with 33,000 miles and a 36,000 mile warrantee. On my recent visit for an oil change, I mentioned the
worn out leather seat and seat back on the driver’s side. The service manager told me that this is “not covered” under warrantee
and that the repair would be about $400 just to replace the seatback. When I checked the owner’s manual under the “bumper-to
bumper” warrantee section it was clearly stated that upholstery is an exception to the warrantee. THEREFORE I WILL
REMEMBER THIS WHEN IT IS TIME TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR, and THAT IS RATHER FREQUENTLY FOR ME.
I’ve owned six Lincoln/Mercury products in the last 12 years, and none of them had a worn-out seat. I have the same wallet,
with credit cards and documents in my back pocket for all of these years. NO EXCUSES FORD.
Now lets go on to the positive side of the story. A friend of mine referred me to Douglas Dake of TRIM & TOP Inc, located at
555 Port Washington Boulevard, Port Washington, NY 11050 (516) 883-1200. Mr. Dake had factory samples and matched the
color and material perfectly. I left the car overnight, and when I picked up the car it was a perfect repair. I also noticed the many
expensive classic cars that were in the shop for upholstery work. At the back of the shop, there were two real classics, a 1938
Cadillac Limousine and a 1941 Packard Limousine with the open chauffeur’s compartment. I would recommend this repair shop
without reservation. It was a pleasant experience to have my repair done in this shop.
