The JetBlue Story:The JetBlue Story: JetBlue Airways took to the air on February 11, 2000 with the inauguration of service between

New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Fort Lauderdale, FL. The airline now serves 20 cities around the country with a fleet of 41 new, environmentally friendly, Airbus A320 aircraft. Every JetBlue aircraft is outfitted with roomy all-leather seats, each equipped with the DIRECTV® System offering up to 24 channels of DIRECTV® programming.

JetBlue's origins date back to 1993, when CEO David sold his first airline, Salt-Lake City based Morris Air, to Southwest Airlines. It was as a founder and President of Morris Air that David proved that innovative, high-quality airline service coupled with low fares will attract a strong and loyal market.

Following the sale of Morris Air, David went on to help launch WestJet, a successful Canadian low-fare carrier, and to develop the e-ticketing system he had implemented at Morris Air into Open Skies, the world's simplest airline reservation system. David sold Open Skies to Hewlett Packard in 1999.

With three successful aviation businesses under his belt, David decided the time was right to bring his airline formula to the world's largest aviation market, New York City. In July 1999, having secured a hand-picked management team and $130 million in capital funding from investors such as Weston Presidio Capital, George Soros and Chase Capital, David surprised the aviation industry with the announcement of his plan to launch a new airline that would bring "humanity back to air travel."

CREW ASSIGNMENT SCHEDULING AND

TRACKING

Sabre® CrewTrac

• Crew scheduling system – part of the Flight Control suite for small, medium, and low-cost airlines – is a real-time application for tracking crew assignments, ensuring legal requirements are met, validating flight coverage and performing crew qualification checks.

• Using this economical “management by exception” system, crew schedulers can monitor the up-to-the-minute legality status of every crewmember and anticipate crew problems caused by irregular operations.

• Graphical displays enable quick monitoring of crew resources. When this PC-based system is used with the CrewQual system, crewmembers are confirmed as legal and qualified for their assignments.

• Options provide crewmembers with remote access to pertinent information, such as check in and current assignments, via our voice response application

• Airlines using the CrewTrac system find they can increase their crew utilization and minimize schedule delays or flight cancellations caused by lack of qualified crewmembers. Canada’s WestJet uses the CrewTrac system with considerable advantage to increase its crew utilization and minimize schedule delays or flight cancellations caused by lack of qualified crew members.

Crew Recovery

CALEB CrewSolvertm System• The CrewSolver system is an ADVANCED DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM that provides Real-

Time crew recovery from airline operational disruptions.

• Manages airline flight-crew redeployment and recovery in real time during irregular operations. When disruptions occur, airline crew coordinators use the CrewSolver system to reposition crew resources optimally, enabling rapid recovery to the original crew schedule. The CrewSolver system’s solutions are calculated to comply with—and as part of the solution process are checked against—government legalities, contract obligations, specific crew qualifications, and company business rules.

• The CrewSolver system maintains a complete real-time view of airline operations 24/7. An in-memory database contains up-to-the-minute information on cancellations, diversions, delays, equipment swaps, crew schedules, and flight arrival and departure times. Similarly, up-to-date information is maintained for cities and stations, equipment, legalities, and qualifications. As crews are disrupted, the CrewSolver system returns one or more low-cost, least-disruptive crew

solutions within the parameters chosen.
