Managing the benefits packages of employees living and working abroad presents its own unique challenges. For companies wanting to provide these benefits, securing the most appropriate advice and support is vital.

Understanding your Needs

We know how important it is to fully understand your needs in order to provide you with a service that fully meets your objectives.

So, we take the time to get to know you, whether you’re a small company seeking to grow your business in emerging markets or an established larger employer, ever mindful of your duty of care for your globally mobile employees.

Service

You need a partner that makes your life easier. Whether you require full consultancy, for example to reduce your wellbeing costs or bring consistency across all your benefits, or simply require a first class broking service, it’s all here – whatever you need.

Our dedicated Jelf International team is here to reduce your workload, not add to it. Our clients are at the centre of everything we do, and we aim to build lasting relationships, based on trust and respect. It’s for this reason that we retain well over 90% of our clients each year. It’s also part of the reason we regularly win industry awards, in recognition of our position as an industry leader.

Expertise

Legislation varies from country to country and changes regularly, which can make it difficult to stay on top of requirements at a local level. You need someone who has the knowledge and expertise to recommend the right type and level of benefits for your business. We are experts and work with selected international partners to provide a broad range of expertise in areas including; international consulting, healthcare, independent legal advice and dispute management.

Costs

You need to balance your costs with providing the appropriate level of cover to protect your overseas employees. Whether you’re looking to put an individual policy in place or audit your entire range of global employee benefits, we focus on delivering the right solution for you, ensuring you achieve value for money in the short, medium and longer term.

Peace of Mind

We’ve been advising on international benefits for over 16 years and understand the market completely. With access to local networks, we also have the right people on hand to support you and your employees, who can often be working in remote environments. Whether it’s a question of product, cover, price, or quality, we know what we’re talking about and can advise on the most suitable options for your company.

Duty of Care

You’ll be all too aware of meeting your duty of care requirements for your employees. With Jelf International, you can rest assured that our skills and expertise can help to ensure you reduce your risks, whether you are looking to put a particular policy in place, or review your entire wellbeing package.

We believe that wellbeing covers 3 key elements, which are integral to working life:

Physical benefits – that help keep your employees fit and well

Emotional benefits – that help your employees feel safe, secure and happy

Financial benefits – that help make your employees feel valued and respected.

We take the most appropriate blend from a host of different services and products which provide all three of these core elements of wellbeing, to provide the best fit for your organisational objectives. We can also vary levels of cover depending on the employees concerned, for example, offering your VIPs a more tailored, in depth and bespoke service.

The United States has the highest medical costs in the world, with Hong Kong and China ranking second. www.allianzworldwidecare.com

Through us you can access any or all of the following:

International Private Medical Insurance (and local coverage)

International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) is a key benefit arranged for international employees and their families and in many countries is a mandatory requirement.

The core benefit of IPMI is that it provides prompt treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions when the individual falls ill. It can be used simply to access GPs in certain locations and also to cover routine procedures, such as maternity.

International providers are legally restricted from operating in some countries, so it is necessary to partner with a local provider to achieve adequate levels of cover to protect your staff. We can help you arrange a plan that meets your requirements and is right for your business, right for your budget and right for your employees. This includes an exclusive Umbrella Scheme, designed to provide exceptional terms for those who qualify.

1 WellbeingStriking a balance between the complex needs of your company and those of your international employees can be a difficult task. We are here to help you get the best from your benefits, both in terms of increased employee health and protection, as well as through improved employee engagement.

Page 7: Jelf International Brochure

Private Dental Insurance

When dental problems are left unattended, they only get worse. Often part of an IPMI package, we can ensure your employees are covered for dental treatments, so they can receive early treatment before anything gets worse.

Health Screening

Medical conditions are often easier to treat when they are diagnosed early, which can reduce the impact on your medical expenses claims. This is why regular health checks are becoming increasingly prevalent before sending an employee on an overseas assignment. You could consider offering full funding to key members of staff, or a discounted voluntary scheme for your entire workforce. Either way, we can support you in this, helping you to reduce the risk of absence along with the associated costs.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

An EAP can help you in delivering your duty of care to international employees, as well as helping to manage costs by dealing with issues early, before they get worse.

Business Travel Insurance

Business travel insurance is an essential requirement for any company with employees travelling overseas on business. It provides protection and support in the event of an accident or emergency, as well as cover for delays, cancellations and other events that can impact your business.

Travel insurance from the UK doesn’t always fit the bill. Having access to a truly global travel policy, for those individuals working overseas can make a big difference when it matters most. Employees working remotely can benefit from around the clock assistance and support, which we can deliver at a local level, in a way that meets their individual requirements.

Dubai’s population consists of 17% UAE nationals and the rest are expatriates. www.allianzworldwidecare.com

Personal Possessions Insurance

Just as in the UK, personal possessions cover can also be an essential part of an individual’s protection requirements when working overseas. Jelf International works with a key insurance partner to provide highly competitive rates for individuals seeking this peace of mind. This includes cover for high value items, as well as house and car insurance.

Income Protection

Income protection ensures a regular income for employees who, due to ill health, are absent from work for long periods of time. It allows them to focus on getting better, rather than worrying about their financial situation – which can often set them back further.

At Jelf International we recognise that there’s a fine balance between financing time off work and encouraging employees to make a fast and effective recovery. We can help source a plan that will benefit both your business and your workforce.

Critical Illness Cover

Critical illness cover pays out a lump sum to an employee that requires one of a defined list of surgical procedures, or has been diagnosed with one of a defined list of serious conditions. Again, we can help source a plan that’s most appropriate for your business.

7

Accidental Death and Injury Cover

Another form of employee protection available is accidental death and injury cover. As the name suggests, the benefit pays out a lump sum to any employee or their family who is seriously injured or killed in an accident.

We can access the right solutions for you at a competitive price, in addition to arranging cover for hazardous occupations such as oil, gas, and exploration.

Kidnap and Ransom Protection

The threat of kidnap and ransom is all too prevalent and poses a real threat in some, but not all, regions of the world. Again, we can arrange the appropriate risk management and cover for your key employees as and when it is needed.

Independent Legal and Tax Advice

Independent legal and tax advice can be as important to your business as it can to the individuals that you employ. While we are unable to directly advise you, we have carefully selected a number of key partners who can offer you advice on both legal and taxation issues. These partners recognise our commitment to providing excellent service to our clients, so you can rest assured that you’ll receive the same high levels of service you’ll come to expect from Jelf International.

Wills

Many people in the UK overlook the need to prepare a Will and it’s no surprise to us that this is often forgotten about when working overseas. We can introduce your employees to our preferred list of international legal firms, who can offer this service at discounted rates for Jelf International clients.

Whether you choose to include this as part of your benefits package, or simply offer the service to your employees, this can offer up to the minute advice on how best to plan each individual’s estate.

Global Savings

If your employees have had to leave behind a pension scheme, having access to a global savings fund could be one of their highest priorities. Jelf International can help you source an appropriate alternative solution to ensure that your employees are able to maintain their future income.

Being able to offer services and appropriate compliant health plans in local territories is essential in a fast moving global environment. Local nationals need cover too and being part of a global network of independent international healthcare advisers allows us to cater for every need and circumstance.

Jelf International partners the Worldwide Broker Network (WBN), the largest, fully integrated international network of independent Employee Benefits Consultants, in over 500 cities in approximately 100 countries, including in Europe and North America.

Fundamentally, this gives you access to a whole world of international benefits, with support at a local level.

Benefits Include:

Global Experience, Backed by Local Expertise

You need to protect your employees and meet the legislative requirements for each country in which you operate. However, culture, legislation and language are just a few of the barriers that not only exist, but vary by region. Our access to a global broker network means we can provide you with global experience, but back this up at a local level, where it really counts.

So, rather than offer a one size fits all approach, we are able to provide you with a solution that fits your needs for the individual jurisdictions in which you operate. A key benefit is that brokers will speak the local language and be able to negotiate efficiently at a local level.

In addition to the wellbeing support we’ve already covered, we can also provide access to the following through our global broker network:

General Insurance

We can access global insurance broking specialists to help you control your risks, evaluate alternative methods of financing your risk, arrange your cover and manage your claims. This can include property damage, marine cargo and construction, to name but a few.

3 Global Broker NetworkQuick and essential access to local services.

Mergers & Acquisitions Due Diligence

If you’re investigating potential new territories, we can also introduce you to support around merger and acquisition best practice. This can help highlight and support you in ensuring you meet your corporate due diligence requirements.

Compensation & Human Resources

Access to HR support to ensure you have benefits in place that match the local requirements. This includes information such as the right compensation package to offer, ranging for example from basic remuneration, through to broader benefits such as accommodation and car allowances.

Useful Tools

We can also provide access to a range of useful tools which can help you understand the risks and requirements of each location in which you operate, including:

 Country profiles

 Travel advice

 Country specific business regulations.

Consultancy

Only once we’ve audited your business will we make our recommendations to you.

Product DesignUsing our expertise, market knowledge and provider relationships, we design the approach to include the most appropriate combination of products and services to match your objectives and benefit spend.

Procurement and SelectionUsing the product design as our guide, we source the most appropriate, sustainable solution, which may involve a combination of providers depending on the complexity of your needs. We can always introduce you to the insurers so you can see exactly what they have to offer, and will of course, involve you at every stage.

Implementation and ManagementHaving selected the chosen provider, we will coordinate the implementation of your programme, ensuring a smooth transition.

Review and AnalysisWe will manage the ongoing delivery of your employee benefits programme, reviewing claims spend, managing the financial performance and monitoring membership. We will also provide daily support, working with suppliers on your behalf when needed.

4 Corporate AuditFor larger companies or businesses with complex international requirements, we can also offer a holistic audit of the benefits within your organisation. Often it’s difficult to balance the employee benefits you offer nationally and internationally. By thoroughly assessing your current position, along with your short, medium and long term goals, we can help you put a strategy in place to help you achieve your goals.
