EXCHANGES ONTARIO GLOBAL EDGE INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS SHORT STUDY PROGRAMS

Exchange programs enable you to study overseas

while earning course credits toward your UOIT degree

program. The Faculty of Business and Information

Technology has partnership agreements with

universities around the world. Students currently

have the opportunity to study in Austria, Finland,

France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, or

Sweden.

Students may be eligible for funding through UOIT’s

Financial Aid Office.

“This experience was life-changing. I managed to meet new

people and make new friends from all over the world while

learning about different kinds of cultures and how everyone

is really connected together.” – Jesse Lacroix, 2013

outbound exchange student to the University of Coimbra,

Portugal

The Ontario Global Edge Program gives students a

first-hand opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship

and the role of small and medium sized businesses in a

global economy. Designed for enterprising students, this

youth entrepreneurship program explores the global

marketplace through the lens of entrepreneurs, start-up

ventures, small businesses, and medium enterprises.

The Ontario Ministry of Economic

Development, Trade and Employment

provides grants to selected publicly funded

post-secondary institutions to deliver the

program. Eligible students are financially

supported allowing them to gain

international work experience through 8-12

week internship placements abroad.

The Faculty of Business and Information Technology at

UOIT is one of ten post-secondary institutions

approved to deliver the Ontario Global Edge

Program.

Currently students have the opportunity to intern in

Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Portugal, and Spain.

Qualified students may earn internship credit for their

Ontario Global Edge placement.

“It is not every day you can grab life by the horns and steer it in

any direction you want, but this summer I did just that. This

experience allowed me to explore the world of entrepreneurship

through my placement in Hong Kong, and submerse myself into a

new world and a new way of approaching business.” – Shannon

Sawitz, 2013 Ontario Global Edge participant.

The Internship Program within the Faculty of Business and

Information Technology offers students the opportunity to

engage in a contracted learning partnership with

businesses around the globe.

The Internship Program not only provides students with an

opportunity to apply classroom

concepts to the challenges of organizational life and

businesses abroad, but also helps them to gain

valuable and relevant work experience to promote

networking and life-long career success.

Currently, the Faculty of Business and Information

Technology has approved international internship

placements in Austria, Germany, Hong Kong,

Portugal, and Spain.

Students may be eligible for funding through UOIT’s

Financial Aid Office.

In conjunction with some of our university

partners, we have developed culturally exciting short

study programs enabling our students to earn course

credit for a short and intensive course abroad offered

within UOIT’s Spring or Summer term.

Customized to meet the needs of our students, short

study programs provide the opportunity to engage in a

cultural course involving a mix of

classroom work, group excursions, and teamwork.

Students may be eligible for funding through UOIT’s

Financial Aid Office.
