PRODUCT DATA SHEET

Rinker® stucco cement PRODUCT DESCRIPTION CEMEX Rinker® stucco cement meets the requirements of ASTM C91 for masonry cement and ASTM C1328 plastic (stucco) cement for use in stucco mixtures. Basic Use Rinker stucco cement will produce a stucco designated “MS” or “FMS” as defined in ASTM C926 “Standard Specification for Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster.” This product, when proportioned and mixed in accordance with ASTM C926, is designed to provide excellent workability and bond.

Limitations Rinker stucco cement contains a water-repellent agent which is interground with the cement during finish grinding. No other additives are necessary.

When stucco is to be applied to smooth, non-porous solid substrates, a quality bonding agent (or other approved method outlined in ASTM C926) is recommended to be used to ensure adequate adhesion.

Mixing Approximately two thirds of the water should be added to the mixer with one half of the sand followed by the Rinker stucco cement. Add the remaining sand and sufficient water to reach the desired consistency and mix for no less than five full minutes. A mixing time from five to ten minutes can increase the air content and yield. The plaster mortar may be hand or machine applied. The number of coats and the thickness of the stucco should be consistent with industry standards.

Proportioning The stucco should be produced with sand meeting the requirements of ASTM C897 or ASTM C926. The stucco cement shall be proportioned in accordance with Tables 2 and 3 of ASTM C926.

Table 1 presents the approximate amount of stucco cement and sand batched at a 1:3 ratio, respectively, to produce stucco to cover 100 square feet of surface area based on the application thickness.

*Estimation based on 1 cubic foot of damp loose sand containing 80 lbs. of dry sand. (No allowance for waste.)

Curing A light fogging with water two times a day for three days will preserve the appearance of the wall while minimizing drying shrinkage, cracking and its associated de-bonding. It is recommended that users adhere to the curing procedures provided in ASTM C926.

TECHNICAL DATA Applicable Standards The following standards apply to the use of CEMEX Rinker stucco cement: ASTM C91, Standard Specification for Masonry Cements ASTM 1328, Standard Specification for Plastic (Stucco) Cement ASTM C926, Standard Specification for Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster ASTM C897, Standard Specification for Aggregate for Job-Mixed Portland Cement-Based Plasters Water All water should be clean and free from organic material and deleterious amounts of dissolved acids, alkalies and salts. Precautions Freshly mixed cement, mortar, grout or concrete may cause minor skin irritations. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes and if contacted, wash exposed areas promptly with water. Refer to the applicable CEMEX product MSDS prior to use which may be obtained by calling 1-800-99-CEMEX (1-800-992-3639).

FORTA Corporation’s technical recommendations regarding synthetic fiber characteristics are based on years of engineering research and scores of concrete projects. FORTA

® has developed a simple “4-C’s” formula to help

the specifier choose the right fiber for any concrete project application. By making a decision with each of the FORTA

® “4-C’s” categories – Configuration, Chemistry, Contents, and Correct Length–specifiers are assured of

obtaining the desired fiber performance level for a given project. The following 4-C’s Formula Specification has been prepared to accommodate the stated reinforcement objective for this FORTA

® product grade.
