ESSENCE OF JAINISM

Hu jananar chu, hu karnar nathi.

Jananaro janay che, kharekhar par janatu nathi.

- Time decides whom you meet in life Your heart decides whom you want in life. but your behavior decides who will stay in your life... - You can win life by all means.. Yes. If you simply avoid two things... 1. Comparing - with others 2. Expecting - from others Life will be more beautiful!! - Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is when relationships die inside us while we are still alive...

Jai Jinendra! JOY is kicking off the summer with a great start! We have already had a few very fun and exciting events in the month of June. On June 17th, we started off our summer vacation by having a cleanup at the temple. We helped by removing the weeds and planting new flowers. We also helped clean the inside of the temple. Then, on June 23rd, we had a very fun-filled lock-in. The turnout was great and we had a good time bonding and playing games together! On the 25th and 26th of June, some JOY members helped manage the halls and distribute food to the members. Not only have we been having a good time helping the temple and being with other JOY members, we also plan to have a good time doing some community service! The following are tentative dates: July 23: World Medical Relief (Detroit) July 26: Summer in the City (Detroit) July 30: World Medical Relief (Detroit) Both of these events are to help the people of our community. At World Medical Relief, JOY members will go to their warehouse and help separate medical equipment. This equipment is then distributed to those in need. At Summer in the City, JOY members will go to Detroit and either paint the walls, plant gardens, or play with kids. For more information, please contact any JOY board member! We will send more notices out prior to these events. JOY is also helping the youth of Chicago promoting and fundraising for their Midwest Youth Convention (August 12-14). It is going to be a great event. There are going to be thoughtful Jain sessions and social events like garba also. For more information, please contact any JOY board member. New members are always welcome! And remember, always enJOY!

Anyone who is in Groups 6, 7 and 8 can join JOY. It is a great way to meet new friends and practice your religion. In JOY we do lots of fun and religious things. We have four main categories- Temple, Community Service, Fundraising and Social. Through all of these things, we enjoy ourselves and interact with other Jains. SO JOIN JOY! Meet other people who have something in common with you and make memories! It is truly a great experience, and we don’t want anyone to miss out on it, so if you are eligible, join!
