ITIL 4 builds on what we already know from ITIL v3 expanding on the previous version by providing a practical and flexible basis to support organisations on their journey into the world of digital transformation. ITIL 4 will provide and end-to-end IT/digital operating model for the delivery and operation of tech-enabled products and services and enables IT teams to continue to play a crucial role in a wider business strategy. ITIL 4 also provides a holistic end-to-end picture that integrates frameworks like Agile, Lean IT as well as DevOps. The focus is no longer on a Service Lifecyle, more on the delivery of a service through a Service Value Chain to provide value for all consumers.

ITIL v3 is as relevant as ever and continues to be in demand globally by hundreds and thousands of IT practitioners. All certifications for ITIL will remain valid following the update and will continue to be recognised as valuable certifications globally.

One can wait for the Specialists, Strategist or Leader courses; however, these courses are only expected to be releases earliest 2nd half of 2019. To continue with the ITIL v3 intermediates will allow students to obtain the necessary credits for the ITIL Managing Professional Transition Module the moment is becomes available.

It is possible for students to combine the ITIL4 foundation with the ITIL v3 intermediates as the core elements of ITIL v3 have been retained by ITIL 4.

ITIL 4 CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

For those that have ITIL v3 certifications

ITIL V3 TO ITIL 4 TRANSITION CERTIFICATION COURSE

This Foundation level course is the first course to be introduced by AXELOS in the new ITIL 4 certification scheme. The Foundation course is a mandatory requirement for all other levels.AXELOS has stated that the remainder of the ITIL 4 courses beyond the Foundation level course will be available in late 2019. In the meantime, v3 exams and all v3 courses will continue to be available.To keep abreast of updates, visit the AXELOS website or sign up for 'Pinks e-bulletins.

Axelos have recognised that there are students that are or have completed their ITILv3 journey. With that in mind they have allowed students to utilise the points they earned towards obtaining the ITIL Managing Professional certification. In order to do this, students need to have obtained either a minimum of 17 points from the ITIL v3 journey or be an ITIL Expert in order to attend the ITIL Managing Professional Transition course and then write the relevant exam.

When the remainder of the ITIL 4 courses are introduced in late 2019, there will be a “bridging” course available to those individuals who have acquired 17 credits in the ITIL v3 certification scheme. This is one of many reasons why IT professionals are encouraged to continue to participate in the v3 certification program.

ITIL 4 FOUNDATION COURSE OVERVIEWThis is a new course that prepares you for the examination leading to the new Foundation Certificate In IT Service Management.The course is designed as an introduction to ITIL 4 and enables you to understand a new way to look at IT Service Management through a Service Value System (SVS).What's the difference between ITIL v3 and ITIL 4? In a nutshell, ITIL v3 describes Service Management around 26 processes and functions that are part of a continuous process of 5 life cycles: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement. All of the v3 body of knowledge is still very worthwhile and relevant!ITIL 4 takes you through a more evolved view of a Service Value System (SVS), which provides a holistic end-to-end picture of what it really means to contribute to business value, and also integrates concepts from models such as Lean IT, Agile and DevOps.At the end of this new two-day course, attendees will have an understanding of the following:

Management. A 60-minute, 40 question, multiple-choice exam is scheduled on the last day of the course, and is administered by an independent examination body. For online courses, the exam may be scheduled and completed online.

Ÿ A passing mark of 65% is required to receive your certificate. An exam review is included in the course to help prepare attendees for the final exam
