Meet us Online... Are you out of the area for the summer?
Will you be unable to make it to campus?
SSS will be using Adobe Connect again this summer to help you
connect remotely. Meet with your SSS counselor through the
computer. If you have a computer with internet access and a
webcam you can meet with Dr. Jeannette Cruz remotely. Simply
let us know via email ([email protected]) and we will schedule an
online meeting. Don’t have a webcam? You will still be able to
communicate with and hear us. You will not be able to talk to us
like you would with a webcam, but you will have access to an
instant messaging chat to respond to us. Whichever option you
use, you will receive an email from us with directions on how to
connect. Then at our scheduled day and time simply click on the
link and you will be able to see us, hear us, and share documents!

“SSS has been a real support system for me since freshman year. Dr. Cruz and Mrs. Lertora - Chacon truly love us and guide us throughout our academic careers. If I were to offer any advise to other SSS students, it would be to listen to our advisors. Seriously, listen! If Dr. Cruz asks you to make an Excel sheet planning out your next three years at FIU, DO IT! Not only will it keep you on track, but it will teach you how to create the logistics of attaining a dream.“

Advice from our graduates
“What I realized upon graduating is that college is all about growth. We all grow so much during our time here as we make our journey towards our better selves. Because of this, I would say the two most important things to do during your time here at FIU is to try hard and take risks. When you take risks, regardless of whether you succeed or fail, you'll always learn something from it that you'll be able to carry into the future. And always try hard because that in itself is its own reward.” ~ Lordana Guillaume
Lordana Guillaume Bachelor of
Health Services Administration
“I want to tell students to learn to forgive themselves for any mistakes they've made. It's important to learn to keep moving forward as cleanly as possible. Students must also know that failure can only hinder them if they don't pick themselves back up. Failing a class is not the end of your success and does not speak to your intelligence. However, it is important to look back and point out to yourself every thing that you could've done to succeed in the class and then try again. You grow. You will keep growing. Every one around you is growing, so learn to forgive and love others as much as you can. Ask for help and do not be ashamed of it. If you feel emotionally unstable, speak to someone about it. Take this time to learn about yourself, as well. Get involved because you will find yourself in the loving
acceptance and embrace of a community of people who care about the same things as you. Sit outside often because this city is beautiful. If you're on the Biscayne Bay Campus, go sit by the Bay during your free time. Be passionate about where you are, your love will keep you going.” ~ Nadra Mabrouk

“Student Support Services (SSS) is a great program that every eligible body should take advantage of. I wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for the support of all of the staff (MMC and BBC). Everyone was genuinely concerned about my progress. They went out of their way to provide workshops and resources that helped me to grow as a student and professional. I am so blessed because I had the opportunity to be part of the SSS family. SSS was my home away from home, my Batcave.“ ~ Stephanie David
