Amrita University was established by the renowned humani-tarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, who is also the Chancellor of the University. She is also affectionately known as Amma, who has dedicated her life for the uplift-ment of humanity through selfless service. The university began in November 1994 as an Institute of Technology with 120 students and 13 faculty members in the village of Ettimadai in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Today, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has emerged as one of the fastest growing institutions of higher learning in India. The Univer-sity spreads over five campuses in three different states of India, with its headquarters at Coimbatore. It has a student population of around 18,000 and a faculty strength of over 1700. The university has over 150 undergraduate, postgra-duate and doctoral programs. It has 15 constituent schools in Engineering, Medicine & Allied Health, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Management, Biotechnology, Arts & Sciences, Education, Communication, Nanosciences and Social Work.

About Amrita Vishwa VidyapeethamIn the present era, Mechanical Sciences are the back-bone of the economy of a nation. There is a strong motivation for optimizing the design and manufacturing process using experiments with high precision equipment’s and computa-tional techniques for modeling the processes. The present conference focuses on the advances in the field of Mechani-cal Sciences applied to materials and manufacturing. In addition to contributory papers, the conference aims at inviting renowned experts for delivering keynote addres-ses/special lectures in the field of Mechanical Sciences. There is an increasing awareness of the benefits to be derived from the development and exploitation of advanced materials and structures in applications ranging from hydrospace to aerospace. With the ability to respond auto-nomously to changes in their environment, smart systems can offer a simplified approach to the control of various material and system characteristics. Mechanistic understan-ding from any discipline is the routes to the development of materials with capabilities beyond those currently available. The conference is aimed for creating a cross disciplinary summit that transcends departmental, institutional, indus-trial, public and private research organizations and global barriers and lends itself to the integration of research and education in the vital field of advanced materials. This conference mainly aims in major sectors of advanced processing, material characterization, modeling and simula-tion, properties, performance and device fabrication.

About the Conference

The Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru offers B. Tech. programs in five disciplines and M. Tech. programs in six disciplines. The school seeks to prepare graduates with a solution-mindset and with a high degree of ethical stan-dards. Recruiters from the best companies and institutes in India and abroad seek out these students. Curriculum is framed with extensive industry input. All programs are credit-based. The school has a faculty strength of nearly one hundred and fifty. Several faculties have come to Amrita with rich experience from leading organizations and univer-sities. The school traces its roots to the Amrita Institute of Technology & Science that was started in 2002 with a vision to produce quality engineers with an attitude of service, for the benefit of the society and nation. Affiliated then to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum, the school is today one of the fifteen constituent schools of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as per Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Highly-qualified and experienced faculty members, state-of-the-art facilities and the extensive industry-acade-mia interaction all serve to make engineering education at Amrita’s Bengaluru campus a unique and enriching expe-rience.

About Amrita School of Engineering

The Department has offered a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering since the academic year of 2007 - 2008 which had a student enrollment of 60. After its incep-tion in 2002, it functioned as a supporting department to meet the needs of students of other disciplines and offered courses such as Mechanical Engineering Sciences as well as Engineering Drawing and Workshop Practice for all bran-ches of the B.Tech degree program. The Department offers B.Tech program in Mechanical Engineering as well as a M.Tech degree program in Thermal Sciences and Energy Systems. Areas of study include Manufacturing Processes, Mechanical Vibrations, Mechatronics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Tool Engineering and Design, Design of Machine Elements, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Robo-tics. Excellent laboratory facilities, modern computer clusters, systematically designed curriculum and dedicated faculty members make this department a dynamic place to study. Graduates from the Department of Mechanical Engi-neering are highly-employable and sought after by many prestigious companies.

About Department of Mechanical Engg.

The role of manufacturing in the country’s economy and societal development has long been established through their wealth creation activities. To deepen and broaden our knowledge of materials and to increase innovation and responsiveness to ever-increasing international needs, more in-depth studies of functionally graded materials/ tailor-made materials are needed at present. The objective of this conference is to bring together experts from acade-mic institutions, industries and research organizations and professional engineers for sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience in the emerging trends related to advanced materials processing, and characterization. The conference is structured as follows: plenary lectures followed by parallel sessions. The plenary lectures will be delivered by eminent personalities of international repute to introduce the theme of the conference. Each parallel session starts with an invited talk on specific topic followed by contributed papers. Papers are invited from the prospective authors from indus-tries, academic institutions and R&D organizations and from professional engineers.

Scope of the Conference

We invite high quality, state-of-the-art, previously unpubli-shed original research papers. The authors may limit their papers to a maximum of 10 pages. The authors will then be invited to submit the final papers based on the recommen-dations of the reviewers for inclusion into the proceeding. The authors should use the template as provided in confe-rence website for preparation of the paper. Manuscripts should follow the style of the conference proceedings publi-sher and are subjected to both peer review and editing.
