What is interfacing??

• The exchange of information between a Radiology Information System(RIS),Hospital Information System(HIS) and PACS in order to optimize the utility of PACS for sharing of information, its retrieval , etc with the help of a common platform.

Necessity of interfacing

• Development of compatible data bases

• Development of more automated,more intelligent PACS.

Interfacing• CommView is an application for network

monitoring, packet analysis, and decoding.• The application runs on Microsoft Windows.• Some of its features are displaying and

decoding of management and control frames, indication of signal and noise level

• This application makes use of NEMA-DICOM standard for interconnection of digital imaging devices.

NEMA-DICOM

• A hardware interface supporting point-to-point image transmission, a data dictionary (a set of rules for encoding information), and a set of commands to initiate transactions.

• It specifies a physical link as well as logical structure for connecting imaging equipment for image transfer and text data.
