Nobles, I hope each of you had a safe summer and 4th of July. Your divanhas been busy as usual.

My lady, Terry, and I want to thank each of you for your support and atten-dance as the ladies were honored at the luncheon this past June. We were hon-ored that officers’ ladies from the Grand Lodge were able to be with us. Wehad a good turn-out and Terry really enjoyed herself. Our thanks to Glen Cun-ningham, Madelyn and their committee for a great job.

The fishing tournament was a success with over 70 boats participating. HighPriest and Profit Jeff Head did his usual good job along with Kim’s help.

We referred five new children to the Lexington Hospital for further evalua-tion as a result of our Mini-Clinic this year. My thanks to Don Young and hishelpers.

I want to thank Henry Tittle and his committee for their hard work duringthe ceremonial. It was a success and capped off with the best Arch Degree wehave had in a very long time. The sound system was superb. If you haven’tseen this program you missed a golden opportunity. My thanks and apprecia-tion is extended to Kristopher Fisher and Bill Schwartz.

The first of July found us at the Imperial Session in Indianapolis, Indiana. My appreciation is conveyed to Billy Cullen for pulling the divan float and, toMike Alderdice (better known as Fuzzy) for pulling the fez. My thanks toHenry Tittle, our Director General, in Indianapolis while Randy Williams heldthe fort down here. I appreciate those of you who participated in local paradesas weather permitted.

I was so honored to witness the young men and women of Tennessee De-Molay as they held their conclave at Al Menah Temple. They are the future ofour country as well as the Shrine and deserve our full support. John Whitaker,Randy Williams and Craig Maddux are to be commended for their leadershipof these outstanding young people.

Play time is over and it is time to get back to work as we wind up 2013. Ihope to see outstanding representation from Al Menah at SESA in Huntsville,Alabama this month. Don’t forget stated meeting August 20th and CasinoNight at AMT August 24th.

If I have failed to mention anyone by name, know that my appreciation goesto everyone who has helped each of our events or just the everyday operationsbe a success. It takes effort from everyone.

Please remember those who are ill or experiencing other difficulties in yourprayers.

Yours in the faith,

Arkansas Statement

Imperial representatives of Shriners International voted to make a change to its articles of

incorporation regarding membership at the 139th Imperial Session. The prerequisite requiring that

members of Shriners International are first members of Freemasonry (Masons) in good standing has

been amended to exclude the requirement for the state of Arkansas.

This legislation was brought forth by the two Shrine temples in Arkansas following the Arkansas

Grand Lodge edict last November that would no longer allow anyone to remain an Arkansas Mason

AND an Arkansas Shriner. Shriners International has always had a Masonic prerequisite and regrets

that the actions of the Arkansas Grand Lodge made the passage of this legislation necessary to

preserve the existence of the two Shrine temples in Arkansas.

Shriners International is committed to maintaining open lines of communication with the Grand

Lodge of Arkansas to encourage amicable relationships for current and future Masons and Shriners.

This change does not affect other Shriners across the country, and the organization remains a

fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.

Shriners International's primary focus continues to be its philanthropic mission to support Shriners

Hospitals for Children, a world-renowned health care system with 22 facilities in the United States,

Canada and Mexico.

Yours in the Faith,

Alan "Al" W. Madsen

Imperial Potentate
