Newsletter “The Way” Nº 026 - August - 2012 Missionáry visits Lunch in the street in Rio de Janeiro Campout of prayer With the poor and for the poor Bishop Mario Antonio in Manaus, Amazonas During the month ofAugust, Father Gilson was visiting the missions in Franca, Recife, Campo Mourao, Foz do Iguacu, and Sao Paulo. In each place he took advantage On the 25 th and 26 th of August there was held a traditional campout of prayer promoted by the Fraternity in Campo Mourao, Parana. Religious, lay- associates and youth joined forces so that more than two thousand people present In Sao Paulo, the Fraternity of Missionaries participated in a vigil promoted by the Archdiocese of Sao Paulo on the 19 th of August and early in Vigil in Se’ Park of the occasion to celebrate Mass with the local community, granted new entrances into the aspirancy and postulancy, participated in ministries, gave formation and animated the community. He was in audience with Bishop Fernando Saburido and Bishop Edvaldo. Street Ministry in Recife, Pernambuco the morning of the 20 th , in Se’ Park, in memory of the massacre of the homeless street people in the year 2004. In Manaus, Bishop Mario Antonio celebrated with us the first Mass inside of the youth detention center, that with the authorization of the new directors will be celebrated monthly. Our religious and Lay-associates in Rio de Janeiro held a lunch with the street population. Campout of prayer could take advantage of the moments of talks, prayer and worship. The crowning of a statue of Our Lady, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Holy Mass were the most profound moments. We were present at the vocational fair promoted by the Diocese of Santo Amaro, the Vocational festival of the “Sentire cum Ecclesia” Archdiocese of Belem, and the procession of Our Lady of Joy in Maceio. Brother Cherubim together with the Sisters of Ouro Preto were in Mariana, Minas Gerais, com Father Julio Lancelloti who was co-decorated with Bishop Vocation fair in Santo Amaro, Sao Paulo Luciano for their work together with the poor as the Episcopal Vicar of Street People and member of the youth ministry in the Archdiocese of Sao Paulo. Our missions united around the Altar forthe celebrat ion of Holy Mass tocommemorate the day of our patroness,Saint Clare. During the celebrations manyyoung men and women made theirentrance into the aspirancy andpostulancy.
On the day that the Church in Brazilcelebrated the Solemnity of theAssumption of Our Lady, with theexample of our patron St. Francis, ourwhole Fraternity began Lent in honor ofthe Archangel St. Michael. In order thatmany people could be together with us,Fr. Gilson published a special bookletabout the lent. In various missions thelocal community got together to reflectabout the true meaning of this singular timefor our Fraternity.
In Maceio and Governador Valadares, inthe month dedicated to vocations, around100 youth participated in encounterspromoted by our Fraternity for thereligious life, and in Manaus around thirtyyoung people participated in an encounter.

In Kansas, USA, our religious have goneout to the lanes, under bridges, and intothe woods in virtue of the street ministrywith those who are homeless. In
New MissionsTwo new mission houses wereinaugurated in Brazil. One was a sistershouse in Jaboatao dos Guararapes, in theregion of Recife, and the other was inVitoria in Espirito Santo. At the requestof Bishop Fernando Saburido, our sistersof the mission house, Beata Dulce of the
Poor, are beginning a work shelteringpregnant women who are in the situationof drug addiction and exclusion in orderfor them to not seek out abortions. Thebrothers of the mission house Sao PascalBailao, are working with the prison andwith the homeless on the streets. In SaoPaulo, the mission house, Mother of thePoor, is now located in Bom Retiro, nextto the house of prayer of the vicariate ofPeople of the Streets. The house wasgiven by the Archdiocese of Sao Paulo inthe person of Cardinal Odilo Sherer.
Paraguay, our Founder got together withlocal community in the missions of Fozand Ciudad del Este in a ministry heldweekly with the indigenous populationwho live in extreme poverty in Paraguay.The brothers and sisters living in Boliviawere in Cochabamba, where they visited
groups of young people and local parishestogether with local Franciscan Friars.
