SIO-FLAME™ Anti-static is a comfortable and breathable fabric with good moisture management properties. It is also non-allergic and harmless to the skin. SIO-FLAME™ Anti-static can be washed using conventional methods or industrial laundering - they can also be dry cleaned. The products can be washed in industrial laundering at 75°C for more than 50 times. SIO-FLAME™ Anti-static offers safety and comfort at a reasonable price.

Composition: 99% FR-Cotton + 1% AST ; Twill 3.1 ; ± 340 g/m2

SIO-FLAME™ Anti-Static is een comfortabele en ademende stof met goede vochtregulerende eigenschappen. De stof is niet allergeen en onschadelijk voor de huid. SIO-SAFE Essential Introduction14

SIO-SAFE™ Essential is a flame retardant treated cotton fabric with extra polyester. The polyester fibre increases durability of the fabric and offers a higher abrasion resistance of the garments. This fabric also offers a better dimensional stability (less shrinkage) and improved colour fastness in comparison with a pure FR cotton fabric. SIO-SAFE™ Essential can be washed repeatedly using conventional methods or industrial laundering. They can also be dry cleaned. The products can be washed in industrial laudring at 75°C for more than 50 times.

SIO-SAFE™ Essential is soft and supple thanks to a high amount of cotton and a special comfort finish. It is a breathable fabric with good moisture management properties. It is also non-allergic and harmless to the skin.

Composition: 79% FR-Cotton + 20% PES + 1% AST ; Satin 4.1 ; ± 350 g/m2

SIO-SAFE™ Extra is a fabric with inherently flame retardant properties. SIO-SAFE™ Extra offers excellent protection, durability and comfort. The fabric is breathable and soft for the skin and offers also very good moisture management properties thanks to the special viscose fibres in the blend.

Garments made in SIO-SAFE™ Extra are strong with a good resistance against abrasion. They are also dimensionally stable and have an excellent pilling resistance. Excellent value: SIO-SAFE™ Extra can be used for protective clothing worn in chemical, energy, construction and utility companies.

Composition PF9: 54% Modacryl + 45% Viscose + 1% AST ; Twill 2.1 ; ± 300 g/m2

Composition PFD: (high vis orange)

31% Polyester + 28% Modacryl + 20% Aramid + 20% Viscose FR + 1% AST, ± 320 g/m² (norms: see pag 29)

SIO-SAFE Ultra Introduction30

SIO-SAFE™ Ultra is a lightweight fabric with inherently flame retardant properties. Aramide fibres are high performance synthetic fibres that offer conformity to the highest flame retardant standerds already at lower weights.

SIO-SAFE™ Ultra offers permanent flame protection and high heat isolation properties. Garments produced in SIO-SAFE™ Ultra are soft and comfortable to wear and have a long wear life because of the highly durable characteristics of the fabric.

SIO-SAFE™ Ultra is a very strong, robust, tear resistant and handwearing with a high colour fastness. The fabric also has a good resistance against chemicals.

Composition: 93% Meta-aramide + 5% Para-aramide + 2% AST ; Twill 3.1 ; ± 260 g/m2

SIO-SAFE™ Ultra is een lichtgewicht weefsel met inherent vlamvertragende eigenschappen. Arami-de vezels zijn hoogwaardige synthetische vezels die reeds in lage gewichtklasse conformiteit bieden aan de hoogste vlamvertragende normen.

Zonder kniebescherming kunnen werknemers ongemak ondervinden alsook kwetsuren oplopen door harde oppervlakken of kleine steentjes die zich op deze oppervlakken kunnen bevinden.

Geknield werk houdt een risico in op chronische ziektes of kwetsuren veroorzaakt door continue druk op de knieën. Knie bescherming wordt daarom aanbevolen voor werk in geknielde houding. Without knee protectors, workers may suffer discomfort and immediate injuries from hard surfaces and small stones and similar objects lying on the surfaces.

Work in a kneeling position involves the risk of chronic diseases or injuries caused by continuous pressure on the knees. Knee protection is therefore recommended for all work in the kneeling position. The protection should distribute forces evenly and prevent small hard objects on the ground causing injuries.

The “New Legislative Framework” (N.L.F. Decision 768/2008) sets out a common framework for the marketing of products. We briefly focus on the obligations and responsibilities of some Economic Stakeholders.

Importers of Personal Protective Equipment are responsible:• to import only compliant products in the EU, • to verify the conformity assessment procedure,• to ensure the presence of technical documentation, • to verify the markings and documents, • to indicate the name and address of the responsible importer, • to ensure the presence of user instructions in the correct linguistic version, • to identity suppliers and clients, • to cooperate with market surveillance, • to take corrective measures for non-compliant products and • to notify authorities when products on the market is non-compliant which poses a risk to consumer or end user.

Distributors of Personal Protective Equipment have the obligation:• to act co-responsible, • to verify the markings and documents, • to ensure the presence of user instructions in the correct linguistic version • to identity suppliers and clients• to cooperate with market surveillance • to take corrective measures for non-compliant products • to notify authorities when products on the market is non-compliant which poses a risk to consumer or end user. Market surveillance can shift from ‘product controls’ to ‘company audits’ for importers and distributors.

NLF Regulation 768/2008 gives a new push towards effective market surveillance relating to the marketing of products. Communication of the existence of Market Surveillance Authorities, responsibilities, contact details and annual market surveillance programs to the EU Commission, other Member States and to the public will lead to a better cooperation between authorities and a higher level of transparency. Appropriate and efficient checks on the characteristics of products by customs should stop non-conforming products to enter the community market.

Het multi-norm gamma van SIOEN is geschikt voor industrieel wassen. De vlamvertragende eigenschappen werden getest na minimum 50 industriële wascycli (of 100 cycli). Conformiteit aan de gecertificeerde vlamvertragende normen is gegarandeerd na het opgegeven aantal was- en droog cycli.

Les vêtements de travail multinormes Sioen conviennent au lavage industriel. Les propriété ignifuges sont testées après un minimum de 50 cycles de lavage et séchage industriels. (Soit 100 cycles). La conformité aux normes ignifuges certifiés est encore garantie après le nombre de cycles de lavage et de séchage indiqués.

Industrial laundering of workwear

The methods described in this International Standard simulate the effect of industrial laundering on workwear.

The Standard specifies test procedures and equipment which can be used in the evaluation of workwear intended to be industrially laundered. Each washing procedure is considered to represent a single industrial wash. They serve as a basis for testing relevant properties such as e.g. dimensional stability, colour fastness, creasing and seam puckering.

The standard also specifies two drying/finishing test procedures:

• Tumble drying • Tunnel/cabinet finishing

A complete laundering test consists of a washing and a drying/finishing procedure. For this type of workwear procedure 8 of the standard is applicable at a washing temperature of 75°C followed by thumble drying.

The multinorm workwear garments of SIOEN are suitable for industrial washing and the flame retardant properties are tested after minimum 50 industrial washing and drying cycles (or 100 cycles). Conformity to the certified flame-retardant standards is still guaranteed after the indicated number of washing and drying cycles.
