THURSDAY ASSEMBLY It was 3/4P and 1/2H’s time to impress and entertain the many family members that attended our Thursday Assembly. 3/4P acted out the classic Australian song “Redback on the Toilet Seat”. It was a very amusing item with some great acting, singing and costumes. Everyone was very glad it wasn’t them being bitten on the bottom by that spider!! Well done Mrs Paxton and 3/4P! They were closely followed by 1/2H who got the whole audience toe tapping and rapping with two songs, “Let’s Tell the World” and “The Rainbow Rap”. They looked the part in their caps and sunnies and their enthusiasm was infectious!! Fabulous entertainment 1/2H. Congratulations also to all the class award winners who are listed inside the newsletter. Our focus this week is the green rule “raise your hand

and wait for permission to speak”

NEWS FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MR TREVOR MULLIGAN

VOLUNTEERS’ MORNING TEA On Thursday, 8th December the school is hosting a Volunteers’ Morning Tea to recognise the wonderful work that all of our volunteers do to support the students in our school. These volunteers give of their time, experience and expertise freely and the whole school is very grateful and appreciative of their efforts. Thank you so much for all you have done to support and assist the students in the school. We hope you can join us on Thursday 8th December at 10.45am in the School Library. END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES A reminder to everyone that all NSW public schools have students attending school until Friday, 16th December. There are many activities and lessons still going on until the last day of the term. Please encourage your child to be at school and enjoy the academic, social and sporting opportunities going on. The Christmas holidays for students begin from Monday, 19th December, 2016 until Friday, 27th January, 2017. Year One to Year Six students return on Monday, 30th January, 2017. SEMESTER REPORTS The staff have been working very hard to finalise class reports. Please keep in mind that this report reflects what your child has achieved during the second semester of the year. There will be different units of work and different topics covered. Your child may gain the same level of achievement or a different one, either higher (indicating high interest and understanding in this area); or lower (showing less understanding of the concepts in this new topic/area or being not as interested or engaged in the topic). The teachers’ comments are meaningful, convey how well your child is progressing and will mention the interest and engagement across activities and tasks covered. Teachers will be handing student reports out on Tuesday of the last week of term – 13th December. EMERGENCY CONTACTS

A timely reminder to everyone to please ensure that the school has up to date parent/caregiver contacts and emergency contacts details for other family members or friends. If you have moved house or changed phone numbers this is an essential thing we need to know in order to be able to contact you. Please contact the office and inform them of your change of details.

SAFETY AWARENESS As the days are getting warmer there are some animals and insects that we all need to be more aware of. Snakes will be out and about more often, particularly at night. Check shoes left out on verandahs as these are good places for snakes to go into as well as spiders. Also, there are increasing reports of ticks being active. Please check your child for signs of them on their skin, particularly if they have been playing in longer grass or moving through shrub areas. We have been advised by the Department of Education that we can use a freezing product to freeze and kill the tick. This will prevent it from injecting further poison. Once the tick is frozen, we can then safely remove it with tweezers.
