Fast-growing businesses with multiple locations across the globe often deal with the challenge of localizing their approach while also unifying their platforms for enterprise resource planning (ERP). In the agrochemical space, Avgust was dealing with growing pains stemming from fast growth and a lack of a unified corporate ERP platform.

Established in 1990, Avgust is the leader of the Russian chemical crop protection industry with more than 2,000 employees across the globe and 100 custom products in its portfolio. As its business rapidly expanded into new geographies with several overseas subsidiaries, Avgust realized that implementing a unified corporate ERP platform for each company’s unit was a priority.

In April 2018, Avgust engaged EPAM to assist in their global rollout of SAP S/4HANA by localizing the platform specifically for Avgust’s Belarusian operations. EPAM successfully implemented a complex, full-cycle SAP S/4HANA solution covering all key areas of Avgust’s business in order to improve the customer’s business management processes in Belarus and, in turn, across the globe. The solution went live in Belarus in January 2019.

Since operating on disparate ERP platforms posed major issues to overall business transparency and planning, Avgust decided to implement a unified corporate information system across all its subsidiaries while using SAP S/4HANA as the standard platform. The implementation of SAP S/4HANA in Belarus required EPAM to overcome key challenges, including:

Developing a unified corporate platform operating on a single

server based on SAP S/4HANA as a substitution for 1C, which was previously deployed to manage

Belarusian operations

Addressing Belarusian legislation requirements that regulate financial processes

(e.g. accounting, digital invoicing)

Aligning time-parallel implementations in Belarus

and Russia in terms of project scope with the goal of completing the rollout by

early 2019
