As designers, we understand things others don’t. We see the influence a small, otherwise overlooked gesture can have on a person. We realize that our decisions for environments will have an impact on everyone who uses that space. This is not just a skill we possess. This is a responsibility, and we must uphold it well.
We have the ability to make a positive impact on the world. What we do is more than just a job.
A space must be an experience. It must tell a story. Understand the people. Design connects everyone. Use it as a bridge.

The CUV establishes a close connection between the public and the 2012 Campaign, by giving the people of Richmond a direct source of contact. Within the CUV, visitors can interact
with representatives of both the republican and democratic campaign, as well as Fact Check, and participate in community
engagement in politics.
The space encourages people to form their own informed decisions by making connections between their thoughts, the
community, and the campaign.

Dropped ceilings accentuate rooms. Bamboo is a ceiling feature in the corridors.
While it appears that there are many rods, from the font view, it is visible that the rods are reasonably spaced for a person to be able to go through.
FLUX Wellness Center A new kind of physical fitness
Contemporary gyms are filled with machines and electrical equipment that only stimulate a small part of what the human
body is capable of. FLUX is an experimental project that explores the possibilites of physical fitness beyond equipment,
and uses the building as the actual interaction.

This exhibition was a collaborative effort between several students and Dr. Johan Granberg. All items on display are works of Dr.
Granberg. The system which holds the items, and the graphics, were works of the students.
All detail items photographed and shown here were designed by
me. Photograph to the left shows the entire group effort.

Hand SketchingEurope | Summer 2011
In the summer of 2011, I studied abroad in Europe through Virginia Tech’s Architecture program. We started in Rome, Italy, and backpacked our way through Europe, ending in Berlin, Germany. These are a field sketches from the trip.
