Global Engineering Education Exchange

For Undergraduate Engineers

Global Engineering Education Exchange(Global E³)

• Coordinates academic exchanges (study abroad) of outstanding engineering students from leading universities worldwide

• Students can spend up to one year in host country• Tuition-Swap: Student pays tuition at home university• Impact

• Over 250 engineering students study abroad annually• Over 2,000 engineers have gained international experience through

Global E³ since 1995• Global Presence

• 74 member universities in US, Europe, Australia, Asia, Middle East, Latin America

Cost Savings and Student Cost• In order to minimize the increased costs associated with most study abroad programs, Global E³ consortium

members offer "tuition swaps" where students pay tuition to their home campuses, and not to the host universities overseas.

• Housing, meals, health insurance, and airfare costs are the responsibility of the students for the most part, with host campuses helping to identify or provide inexpensive housing.

• Estimated Cost of Living (housing, meals, transportation) for a student varies by country • Asia: ≈$500 - $1500/month (Hong Kong and Singapore closer to $1500)• Mexico: ≈$1,000/month• United Kingdom: ≈$6,000 - $7,000/month• Europe: ≈$1,000 - $2,000/month

• *Figures above don’t include airfare. Specific costs/breakdown of costs per university are listed on the Global E3 website: https://globale3.studioabroad.com/

Program Deadlines and Process• Deadlines for IIE to receive the student applications are:

January - June Competition: October 1September – December/Academic Year Competition: March 1

• Administrative Process

• Student PlacementStudents are placed by IIE based on several factors, including: student and advisor preferences;space availability; TOEFL scores when applicable; field of study; and general "fit".

• Selecting a host universityStudents can list their preferences, but IIE may not be able to honor them due to the aforementioned factors.

• Note, it may take up to 8 weeks to finalize placement but placement is generally completed within 6 weeks of the deadline.
