0100 Main particulars
0110 General
The vessel to be built as Container carrier, with 1 deck, a long forecastle deck and a poop
deck with superstructure. The Container carrier will be equipped with 3 holds for the
transport of containers. The engine room is located at the aft ship. The main propulsion
consists of 1 medium speed non-reversible engine running on HFO IF 380, 1 reduction gear
and 1 controllable pitch propeller. The accommodation of the vessel to be designed for
sailing of the ship with max. 14 persons.

At the design draught (7,30 M) of the Container carrier the speed has to be minimal 18.7
knots. Speed is given under the following conditions;
- Main engine running at 90 % MCR
- Shaft generator not generating electric power
- Sailing in smooth deep seawater
- Wind force not exceeding Beaufort scale 2
If the sea and weather conditions are different during the sea-trials, a suitable calculation
to be made to present results in accordance with the above stated conditions, e.g;
- For shallow water, according to the “Method of Schliting-Lackenby”
- Wind force, fouling of Container carrier’s hull, sea spectrum and draught according
to the correction method of the Netherlands Ships Model Basin, Wageningen.

joystick or the autopilot. Emergency control at the steering gear itself.

4600 Rudder
4610 Rudder construction and shape
The ship to be equipped with 1 free-hanging high-lift rudder (flap-rudder). Make
Barkemeyer. The rudder blade area and the rudder stock diameter to be designed up to the
rules of the classification society.
The rudder stock and blade to be joined by a conical connection. Therefore a cast-steel
piece to be welded into the rudder. The rudder-blade to be preserved inside, and to be
drained by means of a dock-plug.

4620 Rudder bearings
The rudder to be supported by a double row swivel joint roller bearing on the top, with
grease sealing ring. The neck bearing bush to be made of bronze. A special seal to be
installed at the bottom.
4630 Rudder trunk lubrication
An electrically driven grease lubricating device with time switch clock to be mounted in the
steering gear room, for lubricating the rudder trunk. The surplus of grease to be led back
into the steering room.

6320 Tank sounding system
The ballast tanks, the fuel storage tanks, the fuel settling tanks, bilge wells in holds and two
freshwater tanks to be connected to the tank pneumatic sounding system. Apparatus box to be
placed in the switchboard room. The system to be connected to the ships alarm (computer)
system for read outs on the alarm computer screen in the wheelhouse and in the engine room.

condensation of the seawater
The fresh water generator shall utilize the waste heat in HT cooling system from the main engine
and shall produce rated capacity of fresh water not exceeding 2 ppm of salinity at rated vacuum
at main engine cooling fresh water temperature of 85 deg.C and at cooling sea water temperature
of 32 deg. C.
One freshwater generator to be delivered and installed in the engine room.

6850 Sewage treatment plant
The ship to be fitted with a sewage treatment plant suitable for biological treatment of sewage,
"black water" from toilets, with capacity of max. 20 persons on board up to the maximum
hydraulic capacity of the unit calculated on 1.600 litre/day black water and suitable for treatment
of grey water from galley, showers, sinks, etc. up to the maximum total hydraulic capacity of the
unit calculated on 3.200 litre/day waste water
The unit has a design organic load capacity of 1,76 kg BOD / day.
The unit is in full compliance with present IMO/Marpol MEPC.2 (VI) and MED96/98/EC and
compatible with any gravity or vacuum system.

The economiser is provided with cleaning nozzles at the bottom for soot removal by fresh water.
Cleaning takes place by injection water during operation of the main engine.
The economiser is provided with a fire-fighting nozzle at the top.
The water for cleaning is supplied from the fresh water system. Fire fighting is provided by a
seperate pump with capacity according the class rules.
