Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world‘s largest technical
professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of
humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better
tomorrow through its more than 420,000 members in over 1600 countries, and its
highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and
educational activities.

IEEE STUDENTS CHAPTER 12951
The Students‘ Chapter of IEEE at PSG College of Technology was founded in 1974.
It was initiated to increase the participation of students in research and encourage
new ideas in the respective fields. PSG has always been known to set benchmarks
in terms of quality of engineering and is one of the first and foremost institutions to
have a Students branch of IEEE. The IEEE Students Chapter of PSG Tech has been

actively involved in organizing top notch technical fests every year that has evoked
the interest and involvement of students from various parts of the country. It has
been the biggest technical Association in PSG College of Technology.
BRANCH COUNSELOR
Dr. S. Subha Rani (born on 15.11.1961)
completed her BE (Hons) ECE and ME
Applied Electronics in Anna University and
obtained a PhD from Bharathiar University.
She is well versed and up-to-date in her field.
In the teaching profession, she has a vast
experience of over 30 years. She has been
the Head of the Department since 2009.She
has handled a wide range of subjects for undergraduate students from the ECE, EEE
and CSE streams, and postgraduate students from Communication Systems.
An ardent research scholar, Dr. S. Subha Rani is currently guiding research in micro
strip antenna design, image security, video processing algorithms and wireless
sensor networks. Her research includes, among other things, wireless LA networks,
compression techniques in image processing and discrete time linear systems.
Dr. S. Subha Rani has contributed as a principal investigator in various projects
funded by the DST, DRDO, AICTE, etc. She has also won awards such as Best
Student, Best Project and Best Paper at various levels.
She has organized and conducted various national and international conferences
and workshops in the fields of VLSI design, embedded systems, wireless networks,
advanced communication systems, etc. Dr. S. Subha Rani is a senior Member of
IEEE and a Fellow of IE and IETE. She is also a prominent member of BESM,
MISTE, MSSI and MCSI. She also serves as a member of various panels and
committees of education institutions in various capacities.

SRiSHTi 2K18 SRiSHTi is an annual tech fest that is organized by the IEEE Students Chapter of
PSG College of Technology. It has always taken pride in acknowledging the fact that
the quality of students graduating has always been a notch higher in terms of
experience and skill. With an intention to provide students a platform to assess
themselves and compete amongst students from other colleges, SRiSHTi was
founded in 2006. Ever since its inception, it has been providing intriguing contests
that puts the brains of Techno geeks at work that brings out the best in them. With a
turn up of over 3000 per year, it stays true to its name of kindling a student‘s interest
towards technology. Unleashing the talent within is what it strives to attain.
This year SRiSHTi was conducted on OCTOBER 13th and 14th. There were 2
workshops, 5 Paper Presentations and 20 events conducted as a part of SRiSHTi.

Build a land bot for the challenges. The main task revolves around pick and place.
The robot must be able to do all the desired tasks such as picking, transportation,

Code Bug OPS is a coding experience that will push the limits of your coding
expertise as elite coders across the nation battle amongst themselves for glory. This
event runs on Turbo C++ only. Codeblock users can play Farmville.
CODE-TRONIX
Show your ability to code and combine electronics practically to take away the prizes.
There are two rounds filled with mind-boggling questions. This is the event for all
Coding & Electrical geeks. Participants will be tested on programming, algorithms
and basic electronic circuits. Finale will be a grand challenge in which the
participants have to solve the problem in the stipulated time.

participate. This event focuses on the basics of electronics and design of electronic

domains ECE, Biomedical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering and

teams took place in SRiSHTi 2k18.

ATOM 2K19
ATOM is an annual event that is organized by the IEEE Students Chapter of PSG
College of Technology. ATOM is conducted every year to test the technical
knowledge and logical skills of the students with its brain-racking rounds. It was
received well among the students with a turnover of 500 students every year.
This year, ATOM was conducted on January 30, 31, February 1, 4 & 5. There were 5
technical and 6 non-technical events as a part of ATOM.

TECHNICAL EVENTS
INTELLRONICS
Intellronics was a field of event that focused on Electronics and Circuit analysis. This
event was an exemplary mix of knowledge and application of skills on basic electrical
components and the ability to solve electrical circuits, all at the speed of thought. The
quiz conducted was an extravaganza in basic electrical components as it laid a
magical touch and was definitely a wizard in the park.
DECRYPT
Decrypt was an event that was held with a sole purpose of testing the participants‘
mettle in coding. The participants were made to undergo two rigorous rounds, the
first of which was an MCQ based round that tested participants‘ theoretical
knowledge. The participants were made to think out of the box in the second round
where they had to reverse engineer the output.
ATOM 2K19
ELECTRICKEY
Electrickey was an event based on Electricals and C programming. This event
aimed at testing the participants‘ strength in the simplest concepts and thus gaining
insight into the foundation. The event received a good rapport from the participants
and the feedback received was quite positive.
TECHNOVANZA
The main objective of this event was to bring out the electrical,
electronics and programming competency of the students. The preliminary round
was an MCQ round, followed by the round called ―Swap and Code‖ .The next round
involved programming and multi tasking abilities. The participants were keen in
provoking their skills.
ELECTROPHILIC
Electrophilic focussed on the basics of Electronics and designing of Electrical and
Electronic Circuits. This event was designed to test the technical, innovation and
management skills of the participants. The first round was an MCQ round followed by
modelling and simulation using software. It kindled the creative and exceptional
thoughts of the participants.
NON-TECHNICAL EVENTS
WUZZLE QUICK
Wuzzle Quick was a non- technical event which mainly focussed crosswords as the
field of interest.This event involved answering general knowledge questions in the first
round and the selected participants were given crosswords and pictures, where one
participant had to solve the crosswords and the other had to connect the pictures. The
participants participated with zest and intelligence.

MAD ADS
Mad Ads was a non-technical/management event that tested the participants on their
knowledge of brands and their ability to advertise a product on the spot. Mad Ads
was conducted to bring out the presentation and entrepreneurial skills to the fore.

4.0 was fun- filled non technical event which aimed at testing critical thinking and
spontaneity of the participants through entertaining and fun filled tasks and
competitions. In the first round, the participants were given a set of riddles and were
asked to find out the brands of the products. The second and third round comprised
of guessing movies, songs, sounds and building structures using the materials
provided.
MYSTERY MAESTRO
The Mystery Maestro was a fun-filled non technical event. The first round involved
testing the logical thinking of the participants. The second round was different, where
the participants were asked to find the solutions for mysterious questions,
comprehending from respective videos.
CATCH THE FLAG
Catch the flag was a unique yet fun filled event that tested the participants‘ ability to
work together. The first round had the participants think out of the box as they cracked
the riddles. The second round was engaging as the participants had to rely on each
other to score the home run

As a part, the IEEE Students Chapter of the PSG College of Technology conducted
two events in KRIYA 2k19, a three-day technical symposium- a bot event and a
technical event.

FLABSLAB
Drones are the defenders of the future. This event primarily focused on testing the
stability of the drones. They were further pit against a common opponent and valued.
The final round gave the quad copters a tough time as the track was designed to
contest the drones on their depth in their build. The participants raced against each
other, to find victory. In all, a holistic test of key features of the drones was tested.
E-BASH
E bash was one of a kind electronic event that stood out from the ordinary in every
possible way. The round 1 was generic MCQ. Round 2 had the participants to talk
about a topic that was given on the spot. Round 3 had the participants literally on
their toes as they scrambled from place to place to collect the components
necessary and become the champion.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
The valedictory function of IEEE Students chapter 12951 for the academic year
2018-19 was held on 8th March, 2019 at the New Admin Block‘s assembly hall. After
a dynamic year it was time to look back with contentment. The chief guest was
Mr.MuthuVangaliappan, co-founder of Katomaran Robotics and a proud alumnus of
the department of Robotics and Automation, PSG College of technology. He also
served as a valuable member for the IEEE Students chapter 12951 during his time in
our college. The event began with a welcome speech delivered by Agahlyadharshni.
Dr. S. SubhaRani , faculty advisor, IEEE Students chapter 12951 delivered the
presidential address. It was then followed by a speech from Mr.MuthuVangaliappan ,
who shared his experiences during his time as a student and a member of IEEE. His
speech was thought provoking and was very valuable to the students. The annual
report was then rendered by Mohammed Usama, Secretary – Men , IEEE Students
chapter 12951. Later the prize winners of ATOM 2k19 were awarded. The office
bearers for the academic year 2019-2020 was announced by Dr.S.Subha Rani,
faculty advisor, IEEE Students chapter 12951. The vote of thanks was then delivered
by Gokul Ram, SPAVE secretary, IEEE Students chapter 12951. The valedictory
marked not the end but a beginning of a new IEEE chapter time again.
