• RE curtailment is a growing occurrence = cheaper
power
• The traditional route of storing energy has limitations
of timing and capacity
• GWhrs (weeks/months) of energy storage is only
achievable with hydrogen
• CA curtailed 85GWhrs in March 2017
Enough for 1.5million kg or 12 million bus miles
• Mostly economical curtailment - i.e. a low cost energy
sync could capture this energy
• Low cost power will be available throughout the day
when the buses are on the road – BEV struggles here
