Total reconstruction of the pitch at Fulham’s Craven Cottage. The contract involved the removal of 6000 tons of soil and reconstruction in dynamic layers to achieve the best possible drainage. All completed out of season – approximately 12 weeks.
Total reconstruction of the pitch at Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster. The contract involved the import of over 8000 tons of gravels and rootzones and reconstruction in dynamic layers to achieve the best possible drainage.
From the very outset of a project Hunts Contractors will undertake top soil stripping, drainage installation, kerbing and floodlighting infrastructure, and this combined with our expertise in laser guided asphalt surfacing we will produce a precise sports surface for amateur and professional play.
We are happy to assist in the design of your pitch and are aware of cost constraints. There are many ways to build a pitch and it will depend ultimately on the usage and availability requirement as well as the location.

Earth works had to be completed in a very short timescale so the pitch could be back in play for the next season. Hunts Contractors took advantage of an unexpected weather window by bring in extra plant and stripped approximately 3500m3 of topsoil; regraded the subsoil using two Cat Dozers of their own fitted with automatic laser grading systems and an additional conventional bulldozer and replaced the topsoil to a parallel grade. All within a shorter than planned timescale.

“Hunts Contractors Ltd of Nursery House, Willingham Road, Marton DN215BQ were employed by us as main contractor on the Poltonhall Recreation Ground project and also completed all works at the King George V playing fields. The works were completed to a high standard, on time and on budget, we are very pleased with the results and would be pleased to recommend them.
The total value of both contracts was in excess of £900,000.00 and comprised the construction of a full size synthetic 3G pitch plus training area 9139m2, floodlighting and fencing to same, construction of four natural turf pitches over 23300m2, associated paths and roads, car parking facilities, general hard and soft landscaping.
They were well staffed on site both from a management point of view and general labour, health and safety was a priority and liaison of all aspects of the contract was good. Their technical and design skills proved valuable in designing out costly parts of the work without affecting the end product.
We would be pleased to work with Hunts Contractors in the future should the opportunity arise”

The works were completed to a high standard, on time and on budget, we are very pleased with the results and would be pleased to recommend them.
The total value of both contracts was in excess of £500,000.00. The contract was well run, they had a very good understanding of all the technical implications of any design changes we suggested as work progressed and were able to engineer cost effective solutions without compromising the project. As part of a £5million self-funded site redevelopment, that includes a new clubhouse, it was important that standards were high and the club enjoyed good value throughout. These aims were easily met by Hunts Contractors.
Their approach to management of the contract and health and safety measures was well above average and left us with no cause for concern. In all it was very well run. We would be pleased to work with Hunts Contractors in the future should the opportunity arise and are pleased to recommend them to anyone requiring a sports surface of any description”

Their civil engineering skill in all aspects: earthworks, drainage, surfacing and landscaping complements our building capabilities. They have a strong management team and good health and safety controls, and are highly competent, running all aspects of a contract either as a subcontractor or main contractor.
They cover a wide range of works including – bulk earthworks, deep drainage, road construction, concrete structures, environmental works lagoons etc, natural and synthetic sports pitches and the occasional building works both prefabricated and steel frame.
One project of particular note is their speed of operations in the early stages of a £30m distillery that the Colorado Group are building at Livingston, where Hunts Contractors undertook over 50,000 cubic meters of muck-shift, two miles of drainage installation of services and other associated works, well within the programme time-frame. Contract value in excess of £500k.
