The Clars Foundation is anon-prot organization whosemain aims are the ght againstprofound hearing loss and offermedical cooperation in ThirdWorld countries in the ORL eld.

The Clars Foundationattendsthe needs in Emergent coun-tries, and at the same timeprovides scholarships to doc-tors with no nancial resources,since 1997. Offers instructionalcourses in Emergent Eastern Eu-rope countries, Asia, Africa.

The Clars Foundation, for

years has been conducting itsmission in the elds of audiolo-gy, speech rehabilitation, otho-rhinolaryngology, phoniatrics,facial plastic surgery and oralsurgery. These projects havebeen materialized in many partsof the world, including India,Rumania, Republic of Moldavia,Ethiopia, Senegal, Liberia, Ca-meroon, Gabon, Gambia, Kenya,D.R. Congo, Sudan and shortlyGhana, Mozambique and Angolawith the donation of medicalsupplies, essential life-savingmedicines, and needed medi-cal equipment which otherwisewould not be available, andproviding free medical care andsurgeries to people in need, aswell.

Additionally, donates and adaptshearing aids and some hearingimplants to patients affectedwith hypoacusia.

Barraquer Foundation

The Barraquer Foundation wasfounded in the year 2003 byProf. Joaquin Barraquer and Drs.Rafael and Elena Barraquer. Itsmain objective is the diffusion

of ophthalmology and becomeuniversal in its most humanita-rian aspect.

Among its sphere of actionstands out to facilitate nancialand assistance aid to patients inneed at Third World countries.The Joaquin Barraquer Re-search Chair in Ophthalmology

offers support to ophthalmologyinvestigations, award scholar-ships in the eld of ophthalmo-logy and promote The Eye Bankfor the Treatment of Blindness.

The Barraquer Foundation hascollaborated jointly with theClars Foundation at severalhumanitarian expeditions incountries such as India, Gabon,Camern, Kenya, D.R. Congo,Senegal and in few months, Gha-na.

Other projects are being plannedfor this year in Africa.
