Why do we have HFE considered as part of the FEED Stage?

The HFE should be completed as the earliest stage of a new project or change to existing plant.

What are the benefits of human factor engineering?

The purpose of HFE is to ensure that employees’ health is not at risk from working with machinery or plant.

Fitness to work Provide Health expertise to implement an effective Fitness to Work Policy. Certain tasks and duties require a "minimum fitness for duty standard" to be set, either because the tasks and duties are demanding enough to put at risk the health and safety of an individual who does not meet fitness to work requirements, or because an individual who does not meet fitness to work requirements could put the health and safety of others at risk. Specific activities included in this competence: - Develop, maintain and implement appropriate FTW Guidelines. - Role of Examining Physician in adjudicating on individual FTW cases.

Can you explain what the fitness to work standard is all about?

Giving Feedback

• Share your preliminary conclusion after discussion of each competence element:– competence level; any gap you believe exists; actions to fill the gap;

any issues with job requirement;– If you are uncertain, say so and what you will do to reach a conclusion

• Gap Filling Actions:

1. Awareness/Knowledge: • Formal training;

• Self Learning (SOU)

• Reading Documents

• Participating

2. Skill• What hasn’t been proven ? How can this be done on the job ? What actions

need to be taken ? What needs to be delivered ? Who can help ?
