How to Upload Photos to Our Meetup Site
Click on “Photos” from the menu bar, right under the banner.
On the Photos page, click on “Upload photos” right under the large Photos heading.
In the dialog box that pops up, if you took the photos at a meetup event, choose it from the “An existing
album:” list. If these are just general photos (like from a trip to Japan), click on the radio button next to
“A new album:” heading and type a title for your new album. Then click the “Add Photos” button.
Using the window that pops up, navigate to the location on your computer where your photos are
stored. In this example, I’m adding the photos from Japan in Sepia. Double click on the folder that
contains your pictures.
Select the photos you want to upload. Click on the first one then Shift-click on the last picture to select
them all. If you don’t want all of them, use Ctrl-click to pick-and-choose with gaps in between selected
photos. Once you have chosen all you want, click the “Open” button.
A dialog window will pop up showing all the photos you’ve selected. If you decide you got some you
didn’t want, you can click the x next to any of them to remove a photo from the list. When you’re happy
with the list, click the “Upload” button.
The upload will begin. If you have more than a few photos it will take quite a while. Hopefully, it will be
a successful upload. If not, you can go back and add photos to the album from the point where the
error occurred. (Just find your new album in the “Existing album” list from the third step above.)
When the load is done, you’ll get a message…
And eventually you’ll be redirected to your album. If everything doesn’t show up right away, don’t
worry, it might take a minute or two for the website to process the photos in the background.
Now, if you want to tell your fellow members a bit about a photo, you can add a caption. Click the “Add
caption” link under the bold album title, just below the gray horizontal line.
Type something appropriate in the text box and then click the “Save caption” button.
The caption will appear in italics under that same horizontal gray line.
Or if that dinky little caption line doesn’t stand out enough to suit you, add a comment by typing it in the
text box below the picture. Then click the “Post comment” button.
The comment will appear with your profile picture under the photo. A comment is also announced in
the “What’s new” section of the main meetup page. (So, it’s probably a little cleaner to add your
description as a caption.)
THAT IT! You’re all done. If you don’t like the order in which the photos appear, you can move them
around using the “Reorder album” link between the album title and the gray line. You can also add
more photos to this album with the “Add photos” link also right there under the title.
