In total the TOPHOTELPROJECTS online database has currently

2,451 hotel projects registered with 588,453 rooms in the Asia

Pacific region.

OVERVIEWREGION

56% of all 2,451 hotel projects that are currently arising around the

globe will be four star hotels. In terms of hotel rooms the ratio of

first class to luxury hotels worldwide is 51% to 49%.

In 2019 507 new hotels have opened their doors in the Asia Pacific

region. Looking at 2020 almost 38% of all current registered

projects are scheduled to celebrate their inauguration. Leading

countries in terms of expected openings in 2020 are China with

411 projects, Australia with 63 projects and India is looking forward

to add 61 new hotels to their current hotel portfolio.

The 2,451 hotel projects in the Asia Pacific region are separated in five different phases due to their construction progress. 57% of all

projects are currently under construction. The 159 hotels which are currently in the pre-opening phase are expected to celebrate their

inauguration within the next six months.
