Welcome to
Tyrone Rigby
who this week
joined our HSIE
staff. We believe
this young man
has a deep
passion for
History and we
are very excited
to have him as
part of our team.
Paul Wade Tour
Cobar High students were privileged to have
Ex- Socceroo Captain Paul Wade visit the
school recently. Paul nowadays is a renowned
motivational speaker who tells his story using
his collection of jumpers to signify key moments
in his life and sporting career, as well as
delivering the message of working hard for
success and overcoming adversity. A very
inspiring man!
Music Royalty
Yesterday students were treated to an
exhibition of music perfection, by world famous
pianist Roman Rudnytsky. Many thanks to the
Cobar Arts Council for organising such a high
quality musician to perform for our students.
Our students are truly lucky to live in a
community that helps provide such
opportunities and should be very appreciative.

Carnival 2015
Congratulations to students and staff who
participated in last weeks carnival. A cold but
very enjoyable day. Look at Mr Coffey in action!
2015 Cobar High School Athletics Carnival
Friday 5th June was the day set aside for our 2015 School Athletics Carnival. The day started
with clear blue sky but by the end of Rotation One the day had turned cold and overcast, but the
rain held off. Many students dressed up on the day and these colourful and enthusiastic competi-
tors were cheered on by fellow students, staff and a number of family members. We would like to
thank everyone who came down to support and encourage the students, which helped to make it a
very successful and thoroughly enjoyable day.
Only 90 points separated the 1st and last Sport Houses The results being; 1st Chesney on 540
points, 2nd Fort Bourke on 471 points, 3rd Great Cobar on 458 points and Occidental on 450 points.

Premiers’ Reading Challenge
It is a requirement of the students in the Self Select classes to participate in the Premiers’ Reading Challenge
each year. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to
enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to
read more and to read more widely.
Students must keep a record of the books that they have read and record this information online. Years 7-9
must read a minimum of 15 books with a maximum of 5 choice books (books of their own choice). Student
reading logs can now be entered online. Entries close 21st August, 2015.
English Teachers will assist in the organisation and entering of reading logs. Please visit the school library or
the town library for appropriate books to read.

Each year our students are offered the opportunity to participate in external competitions run by the University of NSW, The Australian Geographical Society and the History Teachers Association of Australia. These competitions provide our students with valuable experience of testing procedures outside our school environment. Dates for 2015 entry fees and competition dates are:
Payment must be received by the due dates, or if you prefer, several/all entries may be paid in advance. It would be appreciated if correct money (cash or cheque) could be brought to the Administration Office as we do not carry change.
All students are invited to participate in any/all of the competitions. If your student is not in a Select Class, information and return slips may be obtained from Year Advisers or the Front Office. We wish your student well in the competitions and thank you for supporting your child’s learning.
