Dear Parents and Carers, We have had another busy week at our school! Cherry Class Assembly This was a fantastic performance from some of our youngest children at our school. The children performed with confidence and demonstrated excellent speaking and listening skills and numeracy skills. Well done Cherry Tree class. Y6 Osmington Bay Residential Visit Y6 pupils have had a fantastic week at Osmington Bay this week. Osmington Bay is set in 45 acres of grounds with its own access to a beautiful pebble beach and cliff top views. The children were in awe at the stunning views as well as enjoying the many activities that were planned for them each day. There was a chance to engage in great water sports and many more activities, more than they could count! This was a real opportunity for the children to bond and form memories of their final days at Hollydale School. Thank you to the staff who were in 24 hour attendance who also reported that it was a pleasure to support such a great group of enthusiastic, energetic and risk taking pupils. Y2 SATs Week This week our Y2 pupils have been completing their SATS (standard assess- ment tests). To ensure that the children have not been overwhelmed by this form of assessment, the pupils worked in small groups with their teachers. They worked extremely hard and were ‘The best that they could be.’ The class teachers and support staff, have been exemplar in preparing the children for some rather challenging end of key stage assessments. We would like to thank them for all of their hard work this year and are fully confident that the staff and children have done themselves and Hollydale School proud! Educational Visits this week The story telling sessions at the Independent Bookshop of the year ‘ Tales on Moon Lane’ was an opportunity for our Reception classes to hear the popular story book ‘5 minutes peace’ by Jill Murphy being told in an innovative and ex- citing way. Y3 & 4 were gripped by the stories of Tamara Macfarlane author of the ‘Amazing Esme stories’. The children were encouraged to interact and had a chance to dress up as a donkey, walk the tight rope and finally have a bad mannered tea party. Fun was had by all, with an emphasis on the development of speaking and listening skills Summer Fair 9th July 2016 The Summer Fair needs your support. If you would like to help to organise, or to run a school stall on the day please leave your name at the school office, where your details will be passed to the Friends of Hollydale who are in the process of organising this event. Many thanks for your support. Some children from Year 5 Hazel Class were selected to take part in The Kwik Cricket Team Festival. The cricket match took place on Thursday 19th May at Southwark Park. All the children
