CSR ACTIVITIES OF WEST COAST MINES:

CSR PHILOSOPHY: The philosophy of caring, giving, developing & empowering underserved people as part of our Group’s D N A. Hindalco have a tremendous responsibility to give back to society, & to make difference. This has raised the Aditya Birla to a unique brand that is trusted, respected & admired by its multiple stakeholders.

CSR VISION: Hindalco articulated vision is; “To actively contribute to the social & economic development of the community in which Hindalco operate. In so doing build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of the society & raise the human development index of our country”. Our focus areas in the villages that we are engaged in are education, healthcare & family welfare, sustainable livelihood encompassing agriculture & watershed development & women empowerment process, infrastructure support & espousing social cause. Our social vision is integrated into our business vision. While we do not turn business into a cause, we do ‘social cause marketing’.

Education: Hindalco has been spent Rs. 30, 92,942/- on educational activities. Hindalco have carried out so many passionate activities like construction / renovation of school building, provision school uniform, books & soft instruments. (Nos. of Beneficiaries – 51089)

Healthcare: Hindalco has spent Rs. 245.86 Lacs on healthcare activities. Hindalco has established Rajarshee Shahu Arogya Kendra at Radhanagari through Health Care International. Hindalco is providing free medical services to needy peoples through their Mines dispensary. Hindalco medical team regularly conducts health checkup camps & distributes free medicines. (Nos. of Beneficiaries – 209389)

Sustainable Livelihood: Hindalco CSR team has formed SHG at villages & provided vocational training to the SHG women. Now these SHG women actively participating & running Milk co-op dairy, Mushroom cultivation, Nursery raising, Vermi compost, Goat-Rabbit rearing, handicraft, Embossing etc. Rs. 27.20 lacs has been spent on sustainability livelihood project. (Nos. of Beneficiaries – 66238)

Drinking Water Facilities:

Provision of safe drinking water in nearby villages & supply water tanker during summer season

Social Projects: Hindalco has spent Rs. 34.84 Lacs on various social projects like Organic farming, providing smokeless Chulas, Fuel stand, Solar lamps to reduce the smoke. Handicapped chairs cycles provided to the needy people. Fruit bearing sapling distributed to the villagers. (Nos. of Beneficiaries – 37260)

Steel cupboard provided to Chetana Vikas mandir Organizing sports & prize distribution for

(school of mentally challenged). Physically challenged people.

Development for Physically challenged people

Initiatives taken by Hindalco Ladies Club towards CSR activities.

Infrastructure Development: Hindalco has constructed roads, gutters, irrigation scheme for farmers, water treatment plant, and renovation of gravity scheme, latrines, street lights, pick up shed & house repairing of tribal community. On this project Hindalco has spent Rs. 81.35 Lacs (Nos. of Beneficiaries – 76207)

Our above experience gives ample proof that the three pillars of Sustainable Development, Economic Viability, Environmental Responsibility and Social Accountability – are vital for the existence and growth of any mineral business. This is the key to success, when one is operating an industry in an environmentally sensitive area. All the activities laid down in the Environment Management System have contributed significantly in building faith and mutual trust between the society and the company.
