Vorige 2 medaljes was albei brons gewees.

SOMERSET COLLEGE U19 RUGBY FESTIVAL: FAIRMONT HOCKEY FESTIVAL:Somerset College hosted a 1st team rugby festival during the Easter school holiday.

First teams from Somerset College, Parel Vallei, Westerford High School, Woodridge College (Port Elizabeth), St Andrews School (Bloemfontein) and Thomas More College (Durban) all made their way to the Helderberg region for a fantastic week of competitive fixtures.

Results from the festival were as follows:Day 1• Parel Vallei 27 - 26 Woodridge College• St Andrew’s School 52 - 7 Westerford High School• Somerset College 41 - 7 Thomas More College

Day 2• Woodridge College 32 - 12 Thomas More College• Somerset College 21 - 26 St Andrew’s School• Parel Vallei 44 - 5 Westerford High School

Day 3• Thomas More College 29 - 10 Westerford High School• St Andrew’s School 13 - 0 Parel Vallei• Somerset College 24 - 10 Woodridge College

In the 1st match College played against De Kuilen and won the match convincingly 7-1, which was a great start. In the second match College played against Fairbairn and beat them 5-0.

The third match, and final pool match, was against Paarl Gim. They played really well in the first half and the score was 1-1 at half time. In the second half the Somerset College boys played a faster game of hockey and ended the match with a resounding 4-1 victory.

The next two matches played were cross pool matches against the other two top teams from Pool D. College beat

Hugenote 4-0 and DF Malan 2-0.In the final College met the Krugersdorp

team; a tough, physical team. College won multiple short corners but unfortunately could not utilise these opportunities to score. Nic Selai, the College goalkeeper, made two terrific saves to keep the score to 0-0 and the match remained deadlocked until the final whistle. The match then went straight to 8 second showdowns and Krugersdorp’s goalkeeper was superb in the showdowns to help Krugersdorp High to victory.

College finished 2nd at the Fairmont Festival out of 16 teams

PRG LAAT GREY HIGH LES OPSÊ

PAUL ROOS GIMNASIUM WORD 150

RUGBY

HOKKIE

HERE ARE OUR PICKS FOR THE BEST CAR GAMES FOR YOUR FAMILY:

I Spy. “I spy with my little eye, something red.” This easy-to-learn game is perfect for preschoolers, and can keep them entertained for unbelievably long periods of time. The directions are simple: One person spies something and recites the line, ending in a clue. Everyone else takes turns trying to guess the mystery item. License Plate Game. When we were kids, everyone seemed to play the license plate game on family road trips. Armed with a pad of paper, we would write down the name of each province or district as we spotted it. The goal, of course, was to nab all provinces. If we were lucky, we’d spot a Namibian or a number plate from Botswana and Swaziland, too.

I’m Going on a Picnic. This alphabet-based memory game is great

B e s t C a r G a m e s f o r K i d sBanish back-seat boredom without spending a cent!

for kids 5 and up. You don’t need a game board or any materials. The game can be played with as few as two players, but it’s more fun when the whole family joins in.

The first player says “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing...” followed by something that begins with A, such as apples. The second player repeats what the first person said, but adds something that begins with B. So she might say “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing apples and bananas.” And so on with C, D, and the rest of the alphabet. If someone forgets an item, she is out. To be fair, feel free to be lenient and give hints to younger players. The last player to be able to recite all the items on the list wins.

20 Questions. This easy-peasy game is great for younger kids, thanks to its straightforward rules. Player One thinks of a person, place or thing. Everyone else takes turns asking questions that can be answered with a simple yes or no. After each answer, the questioner gets one guess. Play continues until a player guesses correctly.

Spot the Car. For families with ’tween and teen car hounds, this scavenger hunt is a fun alternate to the license plate game. Instead of looking for different provinces or towns, you’re looking for different car models.

What do parents dread most about family road trips? It’s not the cost of filling up the gas tank. It’s also not traffic or toll roads or Sunday drivers. It’s the thought of their own little cherubs stuck together in tight quarters for hours.

Luckily, there are lots of ways to keep kids happily entertained and enjoying each other’s company. And the best part? You can achieve it without spending a cent.

UITVOERING WP O.14 A’S WEN GOUD BY AKSIENETBAL ITP’S

ATLETIEKMUSIEKTEORIE

jong leerder so ‘n massiewe werk in Bloemhof aanbied.

Verder ontvang elkeen ‘n Hennie Joubert Merieteprys.

AWSUM Julle!

It's Autumn. Shorter days, crisp mornings signal winter’s approach. Make the most of brisk and breezy days to conquer chores for a clean and comfortable winter home, and to wrap up summer’s outdoor lifestyle.

This checklist will help you prepare home for the coming of winter:

OUTSIDE THE HOUSE• Clean and store patio furniture,

umbrellas, children's summer toys.• Touch up paint on trim, railings and

decks. Use a wire brush to remove flaking paint; prime bare wood first.

• Inspect external doors and garage

doors. Do they close tightly? Install weather-stripping, door thresholds if needed.

• Wash exterior windows.• Check gutters and downspouts. Clear

of debris if necessary. In cold-weather areas, consider installing heating cable to prevent ice dams.

• Have chimneys and flues inspected and cleaned if necessary.

Autumn’s is a great time for “spring cleaning"! With winter coming, it makes sense to tuck the family into a freshly-cleaned home via fall cleaning.

INSIDE THE HOUSE

• Focus on public rooms: living room, family room, entryway, guest bath.

• Clean from top to bottom. Vacuum drapes and window treatments. Clean window sills and window wells. Vacuum baseboards and corners.

• Vacuum upholstered furniture, or have professionally cleaned if needed. Move furniture and vacuum beneath and behind it.

• Schedule professional carpet cleaning early this month! Warm October afternoons speed carpet drying. Carpet cleaning firms get busy by the end of October, so schedule now for best service.

• Buy a winter’s supply of fire wood.
