Is there a particular incident or event that has triggered this reflection? I am going to discuss how environment and particular the use of displays and classroom environment are really important. Whilst on professional practice 1B I spotted a lot of colourful displays in the classroom full of lots of vocabulary related to various subjects and how some of these displays were placed. Analysis and Interpretation: Ask yourself questions about this Standards Point. What are your thoughts on it? What does it mean to you at this point in your training? Have your views altered since your last reflection on this point? I think that this is an important to know how to best organise your classroom and how important environment can be in making children feel more relaxed and confident and able to express themselves more. At this point in my training it means that I have realised the importance of little things. It also means that I as a teacher need to think more about how to organise the classroom and how to use it help pupils. Evidence: What evidence do you have that demonstrates your current attainment against this Standards Point? Describe the evidence and explain how it demonstrates your current attainment. If the evidence is held elsewhere in your Teachers’ Standards Portfolio make sure that you signpost the reader directly to it. The evidence I have are images of the classroom environment. Impact and Outcome: What have you learned? What further skills, knowledge, understanding or attitudes have you developed? What will the impact be on the learning and development of the children with whom you work? I have learnt that classroom layout and environment are essential to a good functioning classroom. Displays and images are vital in stimulating children and help them to develop. I have also learnt how important the classroom environment is for those children who have SEN and children who perhaps have anxiety. I have developed a more positive attitude to creating displays and making them more useful for the children. I have also become more confident in arranging displays and using them as a way to show off children’s work and praise their hard work. The impact will be that the children with whom I work with will have a more positive work environment and feel safe and hopefully should thrive. Next Steps / Targets: Action Plan: I need to further develop my skills in putting up a display and knowing what colours work best. When I need more experience putting up displays.
