Our time of waiting, preparation and expectation is over.

We rejoice that the Lord has come. Merry Christmas!

God invites us to make room in our hearts for the Lord

Jesus who wants to be reborn within us. We welcome

the Lord by opening our hearts to Him through prayer,

reflection on the scriptures, and acts of love and mer-

cy.

It is easy to lose touch with God and with those things

which are most important in our lives. O en we are so

busy that it is hard to put first things first. In a world of

many choices, we need direction, purpose and meaning.

It is Christ, the Lord who shows us God’s way for our 

lives. He asks us to open our hearts to what is most

important: the love of God, family and friends, and the

care of the needy of the world. In the joy of Christ’s

birth, we come together as family and parish. It is in

sharing our lives and our gi s that we experience the

love of God in our midst. Let our prayer for each other

be that the celebration of Christmas will fill us with

new hope and joy, bringing a great peace of mind and

heart. God bless us and may Christ bring us life!

With the New Year around the corner, we have a won-

derful opportunity to embody our renewed sense of

hope in planning for a holy and transforming 2018.

Have you thought about how you will make 2018 a

holy year?

We encourage Catholics who have not been prac cing

their faith to come back home… in a welcoming and

non-stressful environment over eight weekly gather-

ings. Do you know someone who would appreciate a

warm invita on to come back to Church?

We are called to comfort the afflicted, to welcome the

stranger, to offer forgiveness and to pray for – and

with - one another. Throughout 2018, we will invite

you to participate in a Parish Renewal Weekend Re-

treat onsite. This retreat is designed to bring one’s

faith to life, to fully understand what it means to be a

Catholic and a member of the Body of Christ. Parishes

which have regularly offered the Renewal Retreat

have been transformed…Why? Because those who

attend become more fully alive in their faith.

Let us inten onally welcome Jesus, who is Love Incar-

nate, so we can share his light and hope to transform

the world.

las escrituras y obras de amor y misericordia.

Es fácil desconectarnos de Dios y de las cosas que son

más importantes en nuestras vidas. A menudo esta-

mos tan ocupados que es di cil dar prioridad a las

cosas más importantes. En un mundo de muchas

opciones, necesitamos una guía, un propósito y un

significado. Es Cristo, el Señor, quien nos muestra el 

camino de Dios para nuestras vidas. Él nos pide que

abramos nuestros corazones a las cosas que son

más importantes: el amor de Dios, la familia y las

amistades, y el cuidado de los necesitados en el

mundo. En la alegría del nacimiento de Cristo nos

reunimos como familia y parroquia. Es al compar r

nuestras vidas y nuestros dones que sentimos el

amor de Dios entre nosotros. Que nuestra oración

recíproca sea que la celebración de la Navidad nos

llene de nueva esperanza y alegría, y que nos traiga

una gran paz de mente y corazón. ¡Que Dios nos

bendiga y que Cristo nos traiga vida!

Con el Año Nuevo a la vuelta de la esquina, tenemos

la oportunidad de plasmar nuestro renovado sentido

de esperanza al planear un 2018 santo y trasformador.

Pilgrimage Tour with Father Erik Esparza 

It is with great joy that I extend to you an invita on to

join me for the celebra on of my 10th Anniversary of

Priesthood on a pilgrimage of a life me to the Holy

Land, Rome and Assisi. From May 20 through June 1,

2018, we will walk in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus;

and, we will visit the heart of the Catholic Church in Rome and the

peaceful city of Assisi. We will also a end a Wednesday audience

with our Holy Father Pope Francis. This 13-day pilgrimage will be full

of blessings as we pray and journey together to some of the holiest

sites of our Catholic faith. I cannot think of a be er way to celebrate

my 10th Anniversary of Priesthood then to journey with you on this

pilgrimage.
