It does not have conflicts towards what I believed in about life. The principles are not biased, incomplete and vague. That is why as I was familiarizing them, I was more acquainted with those principles and that can be easily applied to the lives of people around us. The principle that most struck me is the “Principle of Individual differences” it’s because it respects individual differences via culture, gender, beliefs and experiences with different backgrounds. I was amazed because in guidance all walks of people are accepted and needs to be understood. In our society right now, understanding people is very difficult. People will judge you no matter what you do, even if it’s good and they do not know what the reason behind your actions is. It is important for me to know the principles of guidance because it helps me to share to my students and to apply these principles when the time comes that I will be a teacher. Every day I’ll possibly meet students with different problems and concerns that needs me as a teacher. Therefore, I can apply these principles of guidance. I also believed that guidance is a lifelong process. It does not happen through quick decision making but a change of life direction as well. Also, I realized that even if there is a greater emphasis on the counselee, there is much more greater responsibility of a guidance counselor. Why? Because for me a guidance counselor should be equipped and trained as well. The guidance personnel should be equipped in handling student’s development in school.
