Fado Maior

Espectáculo de respeitosa homenagem ao Fado enquanto representante maior da cultura urbana portuguesa. O Fado Maior percorre o Fado da saudade e do queixume mas também o fado da alegria e da altivez, o fado do amor magoado e o fado do júbilo amoroso, o fado da pouca sorte e o fado da felicidade altiva. O espectáculo Fado Maior visita os poetas mais expressivos da cultura portuguesa: Camões, Eugénio de Andrade, O’Neill, Natália Correia, Florbela Espanca, Sebastião da Gama, António Gedeão, David Mourão-Ferreira, entre outros.

A show that pays a respectful tribute to Fado as the prime representative of Portuguese urban culture. Fado Maior takes you on a journey through the Fado of nostalgia and lament as well as the Fado of joy and hubris; the Fado of the anguish of love and the Fado of amorous exultation; the Fado of scant fortune and the Fado of haughty rapture. The show Fado Maior brings us the most expressive poets in Portuguese culture: Camões, Eugénio de Andrade, O’Neill, Natália Correia, Florbela Espanca, Sebastião da Gama, António Gedeão, David Mourão-Ferreira, and others.

The pianist Ching-yun hu studied at the Juilliard School and at the royal Academy of Music in London. She has worked extensively with Sergei Babayan at the Cleveland institute of Music. Ching-yun hu has performed in the most important centres of music in the world including Carnegie hall, the Lincoln Center, the kennedy Center and the Concertgebouw.

The 26th Algarve Academic week will be playing host to names such as Fatboy Slim, Crookers, Emir kusturica, Natiruts, Aurea and Deolinda. This year, the “País das Maravilhas” (wonderland) will be located in Gambelas on the same site as the Faro motorbike meet. Another new feature will be a camping option and the provision of free buses between the site - Praia de Faro – City of Faro.

A XXVi Semana Académica do Algarve recebe nomes como Fatboy Slim, Crookers, Emir kusturica, Natiruts, Aurea e Deolinda. Este ano o País das Maravilhas está localizado em Gambelas no mesmo local onde se realiza a concentração motard de Faro. Outra das novidades será a existência de campismo e a disponibilização de autocarros gratuitos entre o local - Praia de Faro - cidade de Faro.

The exhibition “Ten Monumental British Sculptures” is taking place at the roman archaeological site Cerro da Vila, establishing a direct and harmonious relationship with the landscape and the architecture of the site. The aim of the exhibition is to enable the general public to enjoy and share in works of great artistic merit, belonging to the Berardo Collection, at the same time as offering a unique opportunity to visit the Cerro da Vila, an ancient roman villa in Vilamoura. The exhibition “Ten Monumental British Sculptures” is a joint initiative by the Berardo Collection, the Portuguese Tourist Board, Turismo do Algarve, Loulé Municipal Council, Lusort and inframoura.

A exposição “Dez Monumentais Esculturas Britânicas” apresenta 10 esculturas integradas no campo arqueológico romano do Cerro da Vila, estabelecendo uma relação directa e harmoniosa com a paisagem e a arquitectura do lugar. A exposição pretende possibilitar a fruição e a partilha, com o público em geral, de obras de arte de grande valor artístico, pertencentes à Colecção Berardo, ao mesmo tempo que oferece uma oportunidade única para visitar o Cerro da Vila, antiga vila romana, em Vilamoura. A exposição “Dez Monumentais Esculturas Britânicas” é uma iniciativa da Colecção Berardo, Turismo de Portugal, Turismo do Algarve, Câmara Municipal de Loulé, Lusort e inframoura.

These two exhibitions are the outcome of a European project that includes the Portimão Museum and another eight European museums.“Flavours of Europe” deals with the question “why do we eat what we eat?” while the exhibition “Olive Oil – know-how with Flavour” shows the historical development from traditional olive groves to new intensive farming, as well as changes in the olive oil business.

Estas duas mostras resultam de um projecto europeu que inclui o Museu de Portimão e outros oito museus europeus.“Sabores da Europa” debruça-se sobre a questão “porque comemos o que comemos”, enquanto o núcleo expositivo “Azeite – Saberes com sabor” revela a evolução histórica dos olivais tradicionais aos novos cultivares intensivos, mas também as alterações na comercialização.

This show was built in an interdisciplinary partnership from one of the tales Contos do Mago - A Dança da Duna Luna, by helena Tapadinhas.The tales found in Contos do Mago are part of the Environmental Education through Art regional Project promoted by DrEAlgarve.A Dança da Duna Luna addresses the current issue of Faro beach, namely the relation between the dynamics of the three ecosystems (the dune, the lagoon and the marsh) and human activity.

O Algarve Chefs week reune nove chefs dos melhores hotéis de 5 estrelas. Durante 7 dias, a gastronomia algarvia será revisitada e reinterpretada. A coordenação gastronómica ficará a cargo do Chef Bertílio Gomes, também programador Allgarve. Do valor do jantar, 1€ reverterá a favor de uma instituição de solidariedade social algarvia.

The Algarve Chefs week will be bringing together nine chefs from the best 5-star hotels. For seven days, the gastronomy of the Algarve will be revisited and reinterpreted. The gastronomic coordination will be in the hands of chef Bertílio Gomes, who is also an Allgarve programme organiser. 1€ from the price of each dinner will be donated to a local charity.

Sob a temática Animalândia, a edição de 2011 da FiESA traz-nos animais representados de uma forma humorística, personificados em comportamentos humanos e homenageando personagens da ficção infantil e adulta. A preocupação em relação ao ambiente e à preservação das espécies está também patente no tema desta edição, com cenas de animais em perigo de extinção, representados no seu habitat natural.

On the theme “Animalândia” the 2011 edition of FiESA will be bringing us animals represented in a humorous manner, imitating human behaviour and paying tribute to figures from children’s and adult fiction. Concern for the environment and the conservation of species is also in evidence in this year’s theme, with scenes of endangered animals shown in their natural habitats.
