From the Pastor’s Desk roles of each person in the Trinity. The more we probe the depths of the Mystery of the Trinity, the closer we are to the Truth about God and ourselves This Mon. May 31 will have our annual Memorial Day Mass at Calvary Cemetery @ 9:00 a.m. Please join us for our Memorial Day Masses as we honor the memory of our faithful departed

This month of May we encourage members to give to our semi-annual Collection for our Quincy Catholic Cemeteries. Monies from this collection help provide ongoing care and support to our parish cemeteries. Please place your contributions in the Cemetery Care envelope found in your monthly packet. Next Sun. June 6 after the 10:00 a.m. Mass we will have a Corpus Christi Procession to QND High School as part of our celebration of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Please join us in this procession! Next month all of our musical accompanists and cantors will together be attending an online liturgical course “Theology of Liturgical Music” through the Mundelein Liturgical Institute. Our music ministers will participate in this 5-part series in the Gathering Space every Wed. evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. beginning Wed. June 2 and ending Wed. July 7. I look forward to the ongoing theological formation that the Mundelein Liturgical Institute will be sharing with our musical leaders. This Fri. June 4 I will be holding an Appreciation Event for our Altar Servers with a Trip to Siloam Springs State Park. At Siloam Springs we will have hiking, fishing, an outdoor Mass, picnic lunch, and outdoor games. I thank Kailee Flesh and Andy Flachs for helping me to organize this event. Vacation Bible School has been scheduled for Monday June 14 - Friday June 18 at 6:00-8:30 p.m. each evening. Amber Hendrian and Ginny Steinkamp are chairing this year’s VBS. Please let them know if you are interested in helping. I would like to thank the Men’s Group for their Night Golf fundraiser which raised $1,939 for Blessed Sacrament School. I especially thank Aaron Kerkoff for his leadership of this event, and for the many golfing participants who helped support this event. Thank you men for your support of our school! This Summer I will host a 6-week Adult Education DVD Series entitled “The Bible and the Church Fathers,” produced by the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology (Scott Hahn). The dates are set for Wed. June 16- Wed. July 28 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. each evening. We would like to know how many persons plan to attend. There are 3 supplemental books ($60.00 total) you are welcome to purchase which ac-company the study. We can place that order for you if you like. Please contact the Parish Office to register. Finally, I would like to recognize Dan Meade who is stepping down as Church Cleaning Chair after 20 years of leadership. Dan has chaired a group of volunteer Saturday morning Church cleaners who vacuum and dust the Church on a weekly basis. Because of their volunteer work we enjoy a clean church every Sunday. We sincerely thank Dan for his generous leadership of this group for the past 20 years. And we welcome Ruth Bange who will become our new Church Cleaning Chair. Anyone interested in volunteering for Church cleaning please contact the Parish Office. Cleaners volunteer on a 5-week rotating schedule. May the Peace of Christ be with you all, Fr. Tom

This Week in Our Parish

Today we celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday. We celebrate today the Mystery of our one True God who is revealed to us in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is difficult to fully grasp this mystery of one God in three persons. It took the Church more than three hundred years to develop the doctrine of the Trinity that is currently present in our Nicene Creed. It is worth our time to examine the Nicene Creed to meditate on what we believe about the nature and

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for your gift of our priests.

Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.

Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of your kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity – 30 May 2021

Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40. Psalm 33:4-5, 6, 9, 18-19, 20, 22. Romans 8:14-17. Matthew 28:16-20.

Go! In Matthew’s gospel, the last words of Jesus to the disciples before ascending have three key elements: go,

baptize, I’m with you. Therefore, living after the resurrection of Jesus means three things. (1) Do not stay

where it is safe; shed your doubt; go everywhere to everyone. (2) Baptizing into and teaching about

resurrected life go together. That is why the baptismal catechumenate (RCIA) always spends so much time and

effort in formation before an Easter Vigil. Time with parents and their babies, too. (3) We are not

alone. Matthew ends with Jesus declaring, “I am with you always” just as this gospel began with the Virgin’s

birth of Emmanuel (God is with us). What doubt do I have about God, about belief, about Church, about living in this world? Where can I turn?

What ongoing formation in baptismal living do I need now?

To whom am I called to “go” – someone to be with, to do for?

Summer Bible Study-No Greater Love

No Greater Love is a biblical pilgrimage that reveals Christ’s amazing love for us through a step-by-step journey from Gethsemane to Calvary, unpacking the biblical background to the events, the prophecies, and especially , the ways Jesus is inviting us to walk more closely with him today.

This 5 part Bible study begins on Tuesday, June 22 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Gathering Space. The cost of study materials is $20.00. For more information or to register contact Ann Gage at 217-257-4392/ [email protected] or call Laura at the Parish Office at 217-222-2759.
