“Italy System” has the best solutions for the whole Oil&Gas supply chain

In time of crisis or sharp changes, companies need to work as a sy-

stem and to feel themselves strong in their own sectors. Oil&Gas branch is changing completely. New sources as shale and tight have been ente-ring the energy scenario for some years, however new environment politics are also imposing strict ru-les on the ways to improve industry. The “war of prices” which in more than one year made crude oil quo-tations decrease up to 30 dollars per barrel, makes it necessary to think again of how to improve Oil&Gas industry, also by developing better and better technologies for making both operations and related proces-ses more efficient.On one hand, given the abundance of crude oil, it is particularly necessary to improve efficiency of extraction, refining and distribution procedu-res. On the other hand, even inside Italian industry factories, it is more and more important to act concre-tely in order to reduce energy con-sumptions and optimize running costs. Moreover, efficiency should be financial efficiency as well. The-re are for instance soft core aspects which SME cannot disregard. Com-panies require therefore more and more specialized skills in order to be protected on the purchase of raw materials and to avoid undergoing

currency fluctuations, to which we have to accustom by now. In any case, even though in-vestments on exploration and pro-duction are slowing down, there are geographical areas where important chances of investment and business are opening. It is the case of Iran, in the spotlight in these months, but also of Kazakhstan, main actor on the 27th of January of an important meeting of entrepreneurs at ANIMA headquarters. Mechanical branch, represented by ANIMA Federation, is a complex organization of several compa-nies, related to many key players of Oil&Gas: manufacturers of valves, pumps, turbines, welders, compres-sors, pressure equipment and other components, but also companies operating in industrial plant erec-tion, refineries, soundproofing sy-stems and meters. They are indeed Italian technologies and know-how well-known and exported worldwi-de. In Italy we are good at working as a system, by putting ourselves as real “solution providers”.As a matter of fact this is the goal of “Great Tech for Oil&Gas”: introdu-cing solutions both specialized and as a whole system, showing us uni-ted, as a technological supply chain, so to create new opportunities for our companies.

Pensare da “sistema italia”,così troviamo soluzioni per l’intera filiera Oil&Gas

Nei momenti di crisi o forti cam-biamenti, le imprese hanno bi-

sogno di fare sistema e sentirsi forti nel proprio ambito specialistico. Il settore dell’Oil&Gas sta cambiando in maniera radicale. Da alcuni anni nuove risorse sono apparse nello scenario energetico, come lo shale e il tight ma nuove politiche ambien-tali stanno anche imponendo vincoli importanti al modo di fare industria.La “guerra dei prezzi”, che in poco più di un anno ha fatto scendere le quotazioni del greggio fin sotto i 30 dollari al barile, rende necessario ripensare al modo di fare industria nell’Oil&Gas, anche sviluppando tec-nologie sempre migliori per rendere più efficienti operazioni e processi correlati. Da un lato, in un contesto di abbondanza di greggio, è oltremo-do necessario lavorare sull’efficienza dei procedimenti di estrazione, raf-finazione e distribuzione. Dall’altro, anche all’interno degli stabilimenti industriali italiani, è sempre più im-portante agire concretamente, per limitare i consumi energetici e otti-mizzare i costi di gestione.L’efficienza, inoltre, deve essere an-che finanziaria. Ci sono ad esempio elementi soft core che le PMI non possono ignorare. Nelle aziende, servono difatti sempre più compe-tenze specifiche per essere protetti sull’acquisto delle materie prime e

per evitare di subire le oscillazioni valutarie, alle quali dobbiamo ormai fare l’abitudine.Ad ogni modo, anche se rallentano gli investimenti nell’exploration and pro-duction, ci sono aree geografiche in cui si aprono importanti opportunità di investimento e quindi business. È il caso dell’Iran, sotto i riflettori in que-sti mesi, ma anche del Kazakistan, protagonista il 27 gennaio scorso di un importante incontro fra impren-ditori nella sede di Anima.La meccanica rappresentata dalla Federazione Anima è un ambito ar-ticolato in numerose aziende, che raggruppano diversi protagonisti ec-cellenti dell’Oil&Gas: costruttori di Valvole, Pompe, Turbine, Saldatrici, Compressori, Pressure Equipment ed altre componenti varie ; ma anche chi si occupa di montaggio di im-pianti industriali, raffinerie, sistemi di Insonorizzazione e dispositivi di Misurazione. Sono Tecnologie e know-how italia-ni ben noti ed esportati in tutto il mondo. In Italia siamo bravi a fare sistema, ponendoci come veri “solu-tion provider”. Ed è proprio questo l’obiettivo dello speciale “Great Tech for Oil&Gas”: presentare soluzioni specialistiche ed anche di sistema, mostrandoci uniti, come filiera tec-nologica, per creare nuove opportu-nità per le nostre aziende.

A hub in the mediterranean for gas discovered in the last years

The technological, engineering and specialized service supply

chain for Oil&Gas upstream activity is one of the most important Italian industry branches, with a produc-tion of about 20 Billion per year. As a matter of fact it counts some hun-dreds of excellence companies, from small to multinational ones, specia-lized in vanguard technologies, new materials and strategic engineering services, many of them considered as world leaders, exporting over 90% of their production altogether.The present international outlook, characterized by the fall of oil price, points out a crisis of Oil&Gas sector requiring a strong reaction and new strategic concepts. In particular, the difficult market conditions result in a severe investment decrease in new exploration and production plans for hydrocarbons, which total costs cannot be balanced by the pri-ces recorded during the last period.In the above context, it is necessa-ry to attain strict selection of the available options and optimization of the whole managing process of companies. It is also necessary, at

the same time, to think of contract solutions which may go beyond the present traditional schemes and ex-ploit synergies between operators, contractors and supply chain com-panies. Assomineraria represents the area where it is possible to pro-mote the above new approaches.As for Italy, there are important re-sidual resources of hydrocarbons, mainly represented by natural gas stocks. It is necessary to enhance them at the highest level in the full respect of environment, through the existing technological excellen-ces.In the international scenario, beyond markets where development of new hydrocarbon deposits is expected, it is important to take into account the prospect of a “hub” located in the East Mediterranean for the enhan-cement of large quantities of gasses discovered during the last years. This results in a great opportunity for companies with know-how and technologies useful for realizing a project of historic importance, able to change the economy of the whole region.

L a filiera tecnologica, impianti-stica e di servizi specializzati per

l’attività Oil&Gas upstream rappre-senta uno dei più rilevanti comparti industriali italiani, il cui fatturato è stimato intorno ai 20 miliardi di euro l’anno. Si tratta di alcune centinaia di imprese d’eccellenza, da piccole aziende a multinazionali, specializ-zate in tecnologie all’avanguardia, nuovi materiali e servizi strategici di ingegneria, molte delle quali consi-derate leader mondiali, che comples-sivamente esportano oltre il 90% del loro fatturato. L’attuale scenario internazionale, caratterizzato dal crollo del prezzo del petrolio, eviden-zia una crisi del settore Oil&Gas che richiede una reazione forte e nuove visioni strategiche. In particolare, le difficili condizioni del mercato si tra-ducono in una forte contrazione de-gli investimenti per nuovi progetti di esplorazione e produzione di idrocar-buri, i cui costi complessivi non rie-scono a essere compensati dai prezzi registrati negli ultimi tempi.In tale contesto bisogna puntare a selezionare con rigore le opzioni disponibili e a ottimizzare l’intero

processo gestionale delle imprese. È anche necessario, allo stesso tempo, pensare a soluzioni contrattuali che vadano oltre i tradizionali schemi esistenti e valorizzino le sinergie tra Operatori, Contrattisti e imprese della filiera. Assomineraria costitu-isce l’area in cui promuovere questi nuovi approcci.Per quanto riguarda l’Italia, esisto-no importanti disponibilità residue di idrocarburi, in gran parte rappre-sentate da riserve di gas naturale. E’ necessario valorizzarle al massimo, e nel pieno rispetto dell’ambiente, attraverso le eccellenze tecnologiche esistenti. Nell’orizzonte internazio-nale, oltre ai mercati dove si preve-de lo sviluppo di nuovi giacimenti di idrocarburi, è importante considera-re la prospettiva di un “hub” nel Me-diterraneo Orientale per la valorizza-zione degli ingenti quantitativi di gas scoperti negli ultimi anni. Questo si traduce in una grande opportunità per le imprese che hanno know-how e tecnologie utili alla realizzazione di un progetto di portata storica, capa-ce di trasformare l’economia di tutta la regione. □

Acism is the association representing manufacturers of gas fuel water and heat meters in Italy. Production of members include the whole range of instruments, starting

from industrial meters to small sized meters. Both Oil & Gas sectors require instruments following every step, from energy source, from pipelines and oil pipelines, to refineries to petrol stations and domestic gas meters. Metering legal instruments are among the most subject to checks and standards, since their right operation is a warranty for trade trans-actions and subsequent payment of taxes and gasoline taxes; therefore beyond usual and severe product standards there are legal meters of every country and fiscal meters.
