PANCAKE SUPPER! What is the Pancake Supper? The Annual Ham & Pancake Supper is the biggest fundraiser for the 4-H Council. During the Pancake Supper, 4-H members and leaders prepare and serve a pancake supper to members of the community. We usually serve over 1,000 of our neighbors! Who does the money benefit? The money raised by 4-H Council directly benefits 4-H members and leaders. In addition to the fixed costs like insurance and assessments, 4-H Council also has variable costs which are determined by the amount of money raised during the Pancake Supper fundraiser. The variable costs can decrease if not enough money is raised to support them all. These costs support county leader training, 4-H Camp, State Fair showmanship trips, judging teams, awards, workshops, clinics, national 4-H trips, the 4-H Building and much, much more. The bottom line: the more money raised by the Pancake Supper, the more opportunities in Goshen County 4-H. What can 4-H families do? 4-H families can support this endeavor by selling at least 10 tickets to the Pancake Supper. Tickets will be given to Club Leaders soon to be distributed to members and extra tickets are available from the Extension Office. The Clubs that return all their tickets by March 19 receive a pizza party. The family that sells the most tickets receives a prize.

Robert’s Rules of Order
Pointer Roberts Rules of Order was first published in 1876
and is the foundation for running a fair and orderly
meeting, including 4-H Club meetings.
According to the latest Robert’s Rules of Order
edition online, the Secretary does not need to
record what was discussed at meetings. “Minutes
are a record of what was done at the meeting, not a
record of what was said.”

Club of the month:
PRAIRIE CENTER Spotlighting Goshen County’s Clubs
Prairie Center 4-H Club dates back 86
years to 1927! But, don’t let being among the oldest
4-H Clubs in our county fool you, this enthusiastic club of
members are energetic and eager!
Skyler Miller acts as the 4-H Club President; Daniel
Hall is the Vice President. Kadra Clark is the Secretary and
Paige Miller is the Treasurer. Kadra Clark and Alyna Eaves
are Historians. Preston Ault and Sierra Allen are the
Entertainment Committee and Clara Petersen is the Phone
Secretary. Taryn Platt and Mason Weis are also members.
Branson Bumguardner, Kyler Clark and Sid Petersen are the
Cloverbuds.
Clara Petersen says that her favorite thing about her
Club is the activities they do. In December, Prairie Center had
a Christmas party and had a challenge of decorating the most
beautiful Christmas tree. Members also practiced their public
speaking by wearing some pretty silly over-sized sunglasses.
The Club also does three service projects throughout
the year including a bake sale for charity, highway clean-up
and laying wreaths for Memorial Day weekend.
Kadra Clark says that she “likes how we do a bake
sale for Care and Share every year. I like our Christmas party
and I like Prairie Center 4-H Club because we do fun things to
help us learn.”
Cloverbud Sid Petersen says his favorite thing is that
“everyone is nice to me.”
Members take a variety of projects, ranging from
Market and Breeding Beef, Sheep, Horses, Market Pigs,
Livestock Judging, Leathercraft, Photography, Dogs, Pocket
Pets, Poultry, Rabbits, Fabric & Fashion and Horse Judging.
“I like 4-H because it has taught me to speak louder. I
like 4-H because I have got to learn about leather craft, sew-
ing, showing horses and much more. I have learned to speak
louder by getting the chance to be secretary,” says Kadra.
The Club Leaders are Rebecca Petersen, Christine
Miller and Billie and Roy Allen.
